DF2 Terrain Making Tutorial
Making a terrain in DF2 consists of having an idea and applying it to photo shop and or any paint program.The terrain consists of files and titles you need to fix , change, or duplicate.They are the color map which you see in the editor and play on , the height map which is a greyscale , also found in the editor when building maps , A detailed map which is a 8/256 color map it tells where the sand and grass will be on the main colored map , a detailed color texture strip , detailed elev greyscale strip consisting of the textures from the detailed color strip , Char data .cal file, and the rest is just common DF2 files consisting of sky map ,cloud height ,horizon type , water map which is always ripple one as DF2 has no other type of water , water height , filter , gamma , saturation , and sunslope .

Features of this mod include:

You cannot move and aim with the scope/sights at the same time. You must stop to aim.
Non-sighted fire, "from the hip," is now very inaccurate. Still effective at CQB, but not much past.
Damage. Most shots are one hit kill. Some may not be.
Stun after taking a hit: Expect to be blinded for a moment if hit and you live. Since I cannot so far find a way to make you slow down or fall down, this is the best debilitation I could use. I knew that SOMETHING was needed to prevent people from firing right back a split second after having a bullet tear through them.
Rate of fire. Much higher for just about everything. Everything timed to be as close to real world as possible.
Limited ammo on emplaced weapons. 100 for nades, 200 for 50s. I should mention, both types of ammo are much more effective than before, so if you take careful shots, the ammo will last.
3x scope on M4 and AK47, with red dot reticles. This is the best balanced approximation of the current ACOG scopes used by Allied forces, and the Belarus PSO3.5x21 scope used by Russian forces.
Mortar much more effective. You can hit with perfect accuracy, at further range (almost 700M). A DIRECT hit will destroy any vehicle. Bring designators people! If some guy is sitting in a boat or APC, designate it, and any engineer with a mortar within 600M can and will blow his ass up.
AT4 and RPG are no longer very effective as anti-personell weapons. The blast radius is much smaller, and will only wound. Shaped charge anti-armor weapons don't do much when they direct a forward shaped charge into the ground.
APCs and BTRs given variable x8 scope, with elevation adjustment.
Vehicles can be destoryed with effectiveness by sustained fire. Machine guns are best, and the medium variety (M60, PKM, and best of all M240) can rip open a jeep pretty fast. Gunners have no excuse to let jeeps full of enemies drive past them anymore.
Recoil: Drastically more for standing, a good bit more for kneeling, and just a touch more while prone. Learn to use single aimed shots people, like the real military does.
Bullet spread. NONE. Bullets go where you aim when sighted. Exception is AT4, RPG, and M203s, which have a slight error as evidenced in actual usage.
Barret has fairly good anti-light vehicle use. Power, and faster follow ups (but you still must deal with recoil). 7-8 shots kill most jeeps, etc. Doable, but you certainly expose yourself to counter sniper and machine gun fire. You might even take out a APC with one, but expect him to shower you with his own 50 cal bullets before you do.
RPG and AT4 both use iron sights, with elevation adjustment, and you must stand still to raise the sights, just like the other weapons.
50 cal machine guns rip apart most everything they shoot at pretty fast. No more long sustained fire exchanges between vehicles.
Rocket choppers can destory all light vehicles with one DIRECT rocket hit, and all other vehicles with two DIRECT hits. Splash damage is minimal (only really effective against soliders).
Miniguns (both side mounted and front shooting) fire 5.56 rounds, and at a VERY fast rate. They also have a bit of a dispersal pattern. These are death giving machines. Hope to actually see Blackhawks used with effectiveness against infantry. Note, these rounds will NOT hurt a APC or BTR, so don't waste your bullets on them.
BTR given 50 cal machine gun for parity with APC. The blinding muffle flash and puff of smoke is likewise been reduced to give parity with the APC.
Mk19 launcher is accurate now. Dispersal before was ridiculous. These weapons are very accurate in real life, and are now.
50 cal machine guns kick now.

This new tool will allow you to add new effects to you existing BMS files you make. You can change the terrain color,Item colors create over 241 new skies. There is no need for file transfers between computers. Make you map in the med, do the changes using this tool and host your map. All can join with no problems and see all the effects you have just created. You can also add water/fog/wind/camo and other settings to existing maps that you may have downloaded and though it would be cool to have water or what have you but didn't want to go through the nausia of converting it to a mis file and then back to bms file.

Things you can do with it are as follows :

1: Change color of the terrain and buildings on it.
2: Change Camo color of the map
3: Change wind speed
4: Change Wind Direction
5: Change Fog level
6: Change fog color, (See the actual fog color)
7: Change water height
8: Add water level

13: Create over 200 new types of skies

Theres a bit more misc info on it as well. Everything possible in this tool is compatible with CB and any changes to the bms such as the terrain color and or new skies are all compatible with all players , Meaning they do not need any extra files to play on your modded BMS files

CPT DepthMap Stripper:
This program is a self contained program does not need the game in anyway.
To use it you have to extract the CPT files from the resource.pff file.
Then you run the Stripper program. Select any CPT file or even all the CPT files at once.
It will create .raw files based off the name of the CPT.
For example Dvxc1.cpt would make a file called Dvxc1.raw in the same directory as the CPT file.

You can open these with Photoshop.
If you do it will pop up with a screen requesting info. This is the info you need to put.
The dimensions are 1024x1024 Count 2 and interleaved.

A.Bullet found out that you can edit the JO CPT files and replace the CDEP section with the Raw file dumped..
So with a hex editor open the CPT file. Then create a new file..
COPY from the start of the program down to CDEP. Paste it into your new file.
If you copied the CDEP name as well just rename it to DPTH.
If you didn’t press the Insert Key and type in DPTH at the bottom of your new file.
Next open the RAW file with the hex editor press CTRL+A then CTRL+C that will select all and copy.
Then go back to the new file go to the very bottom and press CTRL+V that will past the raw file to
the bottom of the new file.
Now go back to the CPT file and search for the word POLY.
Now copy including the POLY to the very bottom of the file and the paste it to the very bottom of your new file.
Now save the New file as the CPT name you want. This will make it so that BHD or even the BHD med can read it.

CPT Poly Dumper:
This is not a self contained program it requires JO version 1.2.0.10 to work.
This is a loader so you need to place the exe and the DLL into the same folder as the game.
Then you have to run it by the exe that is in the zip.
It will dump the Poly Map of CPT of the map you load in the game. It will dump it to C:RawDumps

You can open these with Photoshop.
If you do it will pop up with a screen requesting info. This is the info you need to put.
The dimensions are 1024x1024 Count 4 and interleaved.

Right now I don’t have a converter to put the poly maps back to how they can be read by the game.
Maybe someone else can figure that out or give me time.
Or maybe the game can use raw poly maps and maybe poly needs to be renamed to something not sure yet.

BFC1 Dumper:
This is not a self contained program it requires JO version 1.2.0.10 to work.
This is a loader so you need to place the exe and the DLL into the same folder as the game.
Then you have to run it by the exe that is in the zip.
It will dump all image base compressed files in the map you load. DDS, MDT, TGA, ECT.
It will dump it to C:TGADumps

This also includes the Color Maps and the tiles that the med can use
