ok ya all know i built a new pc , dont know if this has anything to do with it or not.
well i do some playing land warrior and DF2 over LAN ipx\spx and worked great on my older pc with a gigabyte lan driver but the new 1 i have is a NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller capable of 1gps over lan. i got it turned down like the last computer to 10Mbps i got it set up the exact same way i had my last computer but everytime i try to upload or download a file i keep getting red lights on my HUB and a light that says collision keeps poping up and the file loading halts and says network error happened. the HUB i got is a 3Com Super stack II with 24port plugs. it worked great on the last pc so i dont think it is the hub, it has got to have something to do with the new pc, i think. setting i got for my network adapter are are....Checksum Offload-disabled FlowControll-Enabled IEEE802.1P Support-Disabled Jumbo Frame Payload Size-2500 Low Power State Link Speed-Disabled Network Address-Not Present Optimize For-Throughput Segmentation Offload-Disabled Speed/Duplex Settings-Force 10 FullDuplex VLAN ID-1 VLAN Support-Disabled Wake On Magic Packet-Disabled Wake on pattern-Disabled WakeOnLANE From PowerOff-Disabled Driver is up to date,no conflicts in the IRQ, st up the exact same way the last pc was set up but keep getting all kinds of problems. please, please, could some1 help me. |

Try a diffrent network card.. you can pick one up for about $10-$15 at most computer stores.. I'd say since it's a collision it's happening at the hub.

might be the hub, i tried the new card, and it still happen, its an old hub so i might be trying to force feed it.
got it bout 6-8yr ago so it kindof obsoleate and slow. |

going from my classes at school it's deffinatly a problem with the hub where the packets pass through.. Although I have no explination for why it worked with an older network card. You could try to set the duplex on your card manually (Start > control panel > network connections > right click on your lan connection > Configure > Advanced) and look for duplex settings. Try changing them around.
Why are you using a 24 port hub anyways? How many computers/devices do you have hooked up to it? If you really do need that many ports I would suggest investing in a switch which would minimize collisions.

lol, i got it at the thrift store a few year back for 6$US, it was old when i got it, and i got 4 computers connected to it.
might go back to the way i had it to start with b4 i got the hub, 4 network adapters and bridge the connections. |
