The actor is most famous as a "swashbuckler" (not quite sure why you need to buckle a swash ) and as "Robin Hood".

I bet you can't guess who played the Indian boy.

You will need a leap of imagination to guess.

Most westerns/scifi/asian films have been influenced by "Seven Samurai", so this film probably has as well.

The dude is Hiroyuki Sanada and the movie is loosely based around the Satsuma Rebrellion under Saigio Takimori and the time of Jules Brunet.
