Please Help!! Cable doesnt work!!

hey...ive had this problem for over a year..and now im back to school and i HAVE to get it solved...i have heard of other ppl with the same problem but no one ever seems to give a real answer...ok here goes..

I play delta force 1 on this computer at home on dial up all the time...but here at college, when i click on the game name the screen just goes black and nuthin happens...does anyone know what the problem is?!?! And more importantly...HOW TO FIX IT?!?! PLEASE HELP ME!! PLEASE!!!

mabe the college is blocking novaworld so you cant get on.
