Post Microsoft: Xbox to Stay in Australia

"Microsoft says it has no plans to stop selling the Xbox in the Australian market, despite comments made recently by CEO Steve Ballmer. Last week, an Australian newspaper quoted Ballmer as saying that the company might reconsider selling the Xbox there.

Ballmer’s comment was made in response to an Australian court ruling which upheld an individual’s right to sell so-called “mod” chips for game consoles. These chips can be used to circumvent console security features, allowing gamers to copy games as well as run games imported from other countries.

A Microsoft spokeswoman said that Ballmer’s remarks were not specifically related to the Xbox, and that the company was committed to selling the console in Australia."
