I really want to...

I really want to try out CISCO at school... I'm kicking everyone's azzes in Computer Class... Pretty easy shee-ite lol...

Teacher said something today about me taking some Yr 11 course on computers (Yr 11 = 15-16yr old), but a friend told me it was a piece of cake.

So tomorrow I'm gonna ask if I can take it. I asked some other teacher ages ago but he said I had to be Yr 11. THAT really sucks.

And I'm not implying it's easy or it will be easy - I believe there's a fair amount of hard stuff in there but I'm ready to take the challenge.

And Computer Class is boring - yes I get free time when I complete my work, but the sites are limited to Wikipedia and that for Christ's sakes!

I think my one goal in the future is learn how to build a computer - and no I'm not too young to do it. I think I'm as capable as any other person older than me who succeeded. I just gotta learn how to do it, and apply the knowledge.

Chris

I took CISCO my junior year. It wasn't a bad course, but it took up every moment of the day as far as studying goes. It caused my grades in other classes to drop so I had to drop the class.

CISCO made nice stuff! They made the 40 GB modem for that lady in Sweden (her son is a consultant for CISCO) And I don't know any other company that's actually on pair with them so it's something for the future

Yes I think they do CISCO at school. Unfortunately I heard not many people do it, so it's dropped until they get enough people.

I bet you I won't be allowed to do it... lol.

The next Computer Class session is on Monday so hopefully I can settle for some course - if not CISCO, at all.

And my brother just happens to have a disc with the CISCO course stuff on it as well - but he's like 300kms away from here... lol.

Have him ISO the CD and ill get you an FTP he can use to send it to you. study it in your spare time then when you get a chance to take the course it will be a refresher for what you have learned.

building a computer is easy once you know what parts are compatible with what. and there is a ton of web resources that are good help with that. Good start for practice would be if you have an old pentium 1 or 3 box and study how each part goes in it, then take it apart and see if you can put it back together again with it still running afterwards. Also start learning about setting up BIOS properly. when you build chances are you will need to go in there and set it up to correctly run your hardware config.

Cisco System,Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO, SEHK: 4333) is an American multinational corporation with 54,000 employees and annual revenue of US $28.48 billion as of 2006. Headquartered in San Jose, California, it designs and sells networking and communications technology and services under five brands, namely Cisco, Linksys, WebEx, IronPort and Scientific Atlanta. Initially, Cisco manufactured only enterprise multi-protocol routers but gradually diversified its product offering to move into the home user market with technologies such as VoIP while also expanding its offering for corporate customers.
they make high end network equipment for businesses.
it costs a fortune to buy and have installed.
a cisco certification = good wage. i think a low end engineer is looking at £30,000+ (equivalent 60,000 USD but no idea of the US market).

usually i think ppl would go through relevant MS qualifications first then progress to CISCO stuff.

I was in a school that deals with Cisco...the people that completed the program still seemed to have a hard time getting a job offer. Maybe it is different in your kneck of the woods.

Most jobs I see are looking for at least a bachelors degree.
