PS3 discouraging game developers
PS3's complicated platform is discouraging second-tier game developers
30 March 2007 1:09 by DVDBack23 According to Taiwanese game developers, the PlayStation 3 platform, even in comparison to the Xbox 360, is technologically too complicated to make it easy to develop games, especially by second-tier developers. The second-tier developers, including those in Taiwan, do not have the financial or technological capabilities that international developers do and therefore cannot pass the technological barriers that the PS3 platform imposes. This fact can partly account for the limited amount of PS3-specific games. The developers also indicated that the Xbox 360 platform much was easier to produce games for. The developers also made some interesting points. Although the PS3 might have stronger hardware functionality than the Xbox 360 many users do not see better video quality while playing the same game on both systems. A reason for this phenomenom is possibly that game developers are more willing to invest in optimized performance for the Xbox 360 simply because those games are currently more profitable --- http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=155309 Valve: PS3 a "total disaster on so many levels" Monday 15-Jan-2007 11:45 AM Gabe Newell slams Sony's console, but really likes "everything that Nintendo is doing" 170 Comments Valve Software's chief Gabe Newell has unleashed a stinging attack on PS3, saying Sony should cancel the console and start all over again. "The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell reportedly said in an interview with Game Informer. He continued: "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it'." It's a different story with Nintendo, however, Newell revealing he really likes "everything that Nintendo is doing." "The happy story is the Wii," he said. "I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy." --- |

lol yeah, i think its more to do with funding in the less popular companies.. if they had been developing games for the Ps2, and not suddenly have to uprade their systems for the Ps3.. it would b like getting a kick in the balls

Also with the price drop on the 360 at the end of this month, people are going to look at the two systems that are both $249.99 and have to ask themselves if they wany HD graphics on the 360, or PS1-2 era graphics on the Wii. Cnn did a financial study on the Wii, Nintendo could sett it at 179.99 and still make killer profits on the thing. Especially right now with the craze for it. I think it's a great system as far as innovation goes, but right now it's not a system that just holds you in.
