totally new LAN hookup more then on PC

i have 3 computer and never try to link them together any tips on what to buy and not to kill my pocket any.

i think there is two way but don't know what i would be needing

* wireless network
*line network

what hardware would i need is what way is less a headache to do it.

think wireless is a good way about it.
think i need 3 or 4 cards for each computer tower and a box to rec/send out to each tower.

money is tight and i am clueless on doing this totally

Windows Xp Home OEM SP2 1ea
Windows 2000 pro SP4 2ea

i have 3 Windows 2000 Pr computer but the 3rd one going to another home given it away a freebie. already be pickup in 2-3wks still working on it. so it not going to be in my home. each family member have their own computer to use and
*Friend of the family
*Mother
*me spare

a computer center repair shop close shop totally and got these for real dirt cheap free. they are low end computer system made 1999 so they are not on the highend of system but they do ok for person and office 2003 word/outlook as will do fine for online as will.

It would not cost much at all. Stay away from wireless if your on a budget. I assume most of your PC's have network cards in them. All that's required now is a router.

I assume you have at least Cable or DSL, 56k might be a problem.. Once you have that come back and i'll show you how to create a workgroup to share files / printers etc.

If you need network cards then heres a cheap one that'll work:

I have that same router and it's great for its price! Not an adwanced firewall but it does it's job quite well but with less custom settings. But you won't get that in any other brand in that price range either (Linksys kick butts! Its a devision of the famous Cisco systems and is aimed at consumers!). The setup is quite easy and straight forward.

We have a big-ass 100.0Mbps network at school ranging from 20-25 computers lol.

Does the Synchornization too (and sometimes without even logging out).

Too bad that their so called ''SINA'' blocks off nearly every site on the Net...

Its rather easy, plug them in, configure the computer for a local area network with the same workgroup and you're set. There's even a guide for it in XP

They can be windows 2000, XP or Vista chief. If you are setting up a home network with 3 computers the guide in windows xp should show you how, even if the computers aren't all xp.

Where is the guide in XP ST?
