Mr. Schiff: A large company and an angry employee. Something happened. Eventually FBI Special Agent Byron Militello investigated...

Mr. Militello "May of 2005, one of the largest insurance providers in the nation, they called the Cedar Rapids FBI office in reference to what they believe was a computer intrusion on their server."

Mr. Schiff: Militello backtracked to find the source...

Mr. Militello "First we look at the IP address that was intruded upon the system. And at that point, once we locate the IP, we subpoena that IP for information; the ISP that actually controls that IP, which is the Internet Service Provider."

Mr. Schiff: Militello says the intruder had a secret password and hacked the company from the same IP address...

Mr. Militello "That administrative password was maintained by a former employee that was fired with cause."

Mr. Schiff: There were a ton of intrusions...

Mr. Militello "Over 98 intrusions."

Mr. Schiff: The angry former worker was sentenced to 15 months
in prison and has to pay more than $365,000 in restitution. I'm Neal Schiff of the Bureau and that's the FBI's Closed Case of the Week."

ex-employee getting even but got more then what they was thinking of.

I blame the employer for not changing the password. I remember being called at 6am to come into work when the old MIS got fired. They had me changing passwords when they were talking to him. Everything was done before they walked him out of the building.

Stupid companies like this. Someone along with the hacker should be throw in jail and/or fined.. They are the ones causing all this data theft. Not changing passwords after employees leave, leaving a laptop with 15 million names + social security numbers in the car etc etc...
