i couldn't turn down the price of £200 / $380 (even cut newegg by $80 ). hopefully i'll have the full system built by the end of Sept by the latest. currently waiting for the new nforce chipset to appear on an DFI Lanparty mobo

I almost got an intel during my last upgrade. Thankfully my friends talked some sense into me and I stayed with AMD.

Once the AMD dual cores come down in price I'll be getting one of those.


A whole month before you can see it run??? I couldn't stand the wait...

tbh AMD's next chip will more than likely totally kill off Intel's latest offering, but my socket A system is really creaking now. i got this system when far cry first came out (was on athlon 1400 at that point).

i always put off an upgrade and just overclocked as much as i can with my 2500 mobile athlon , which was running at approx 3400 speeds.

they way i see it atm is that no game (lets face it, high specs are only because of gaming??) out in the next couple of years is going to have a minimum spec of an FX-62 for example, but all the Core2 cpu's are faster than that.

these chips are also all clocking 1GHz over stock speeds just on air cooling, so some good potential. some are reaching 100% overclocks with water or phase change cooling!!

intel actaully got something right with this lol.

i was soo tempted to get an AM2 setup, but the conroe rigs are the same price. :/


yeah it's a bummer about the wait, i think i would rather take my time and get the new nvidia chipset. there is quite a few problems with current mobos' bios. but i think bang goes my idea of a cheap setup i just have to get the more expensive stuff :/

all jokes aside.. core2 duo = very nice chip for very low price.. I just hope amd has something for my next upgrade or... no i just don't think I could do it. Was it hard to do sb? switching to the dark side? Is there a way to get the mb to at least reconize it as an AMD? I hope your going to ATi at least?!?

hey i will still have my amd rig running to it's just unfortunate that someone at intel woke up and made something good.

i still thinking of getting a water cooler for my system one that handle the CPU and Video card. maybe next year jan/2007 that don't cost a lot ether AVG USD-85.00

You'll have to share your 05 3dmarks from that x1900 ASAP. Are you getting the xt or xtx?

did you see what falconNW did with their intelcor2duo? they got both of them up to over 3 ghz
they benchmarked doom3 and fear at 1600x1200 and got 244 fps with D3 and 98 with fear, shame its $7,670.

Yea steve i have been a mixed person and i got the 6700 Core 2 processor (Better overclocking) Still doesn't ship until the 24th of august
