Detox Clinic for Game Addicts

omfg, rofl

Quote:
An addiction center in Amsterdam is opening Europe's first detox clinic for video game addicts.

Regarding to Keith Bakker, director Smith & Jones Addiction Consultants, video games may look innocent, but the truth is, they can be as addictive as drugs!
Keith Bakker's detox program will run for four to eight weeks, starting in July.

Game addiction has serious consequences:
"We have kids who don't know how to communicate with people face-to-face because they've spent the last three years talking to somebody in Korea through a computer," Bakker said. "Their social network has completely disappeared."

The symptons of addiction are easy to spot. Parents should take notice if a child neglects usual activities, spends several hours at a time with the computer and has no social life.

video games might be addictive, but I've been gaming quite seriously for like 2 years, and I just recently cut back with ease and like almost no problems at all but i guess some people might get that addicted which is wierd!

people over there need it.

there are game players who will live for months on end at internet cafe's, only going home once in a while for fresh clothes, etc.

The most game I've ever been obsessed with to the max (way past my obsession limit ) was
Unreal Torunament 2003, I was so obsessed with it I had to walk outside and ease/calm down my mind...

Happened at a day two years ago (August 2004 to be precise)...
