Password protect computer???

ok... i know this probably fits in the computer related category better, but a lot of people don't really use that forum...

now my question is:

Is there any way for me to password protect a computer with multiple users even when booting in safe mode? i know it has password protection, and i know how to do it, but i was wondering if there was a different way...

need this for XP...
and also need it for ME (blows, i know, dont worry about it).....

I'll love you all a lot more if you help, and if not, then... well I'll cut off your balls...

Thanks in advance!

(please don't take me seriously on the "I'll cut off your balls" bit...)

oh... wait...i forgot my real question...

is there any way to set a time limit for a computer user? one that will log off at a certain time, and you cant log on until it allows you too?

lets say, it will log off at 12:00 a.m. and it will allow someone to logon at 8:00 a.m. and you can access if with a password if needed...

i know you can do it with net user in cmd on a network, but i dont know how to do it locally on one machine...

thanks

i really dont think any of the above can be done with xp or me on their own.

win server has better account options but if you want more protection than win login and account restrictions you will have to use 3rd party software.

will try to find something... but would something like a folder locker be good enough for your needs? (for 1st post)

If you have user accounts setup on your computer you can just boot into safe mode to bypass it all?

only if the default admin account has no password iirc.

i dont think this is setup when you first install. you need to go to user accounts and add a password to account 'administrator'.

i'm pretty sure that will then require a password on safe mode boot.

but even then a 30 second search on google and a floppy disk is all you need to bypass any windows system :/

ahh x64 by default makes you use the admin account unless you make another account.. if you want to do it for free just set a password for the admin account and remove the floppy drive.. what are they used for anymore anyways?

Store usb drivers so that you can use an usb drive so that you don't need the floppy to begin with...

Just had to do that, except I had to burn a 1 mb file unto a cd so that the drivers could be installed for the usb drive (laptop didn't have a floppy drive)
