What exactly constitutes Spam and other things?

I have noticed that the some members of these forums have been liberal with their definition of "spam" so I wondered what people in general would consider "spam" to actually mean.

What post's are to be considered "spam" and who apart from the admins is to say which post's are to be considered as "spam"?

Surely one of the reasons these forums exist is for people not only to post on serious subjects as well as anything to do with Novalogic and the superb Delta Force series of games, but also for a little fun?

The other thing I want to mention in this post is the reference by one member to these forums becoming "kiddie" forums. Surely most of the members here are of a fairly young age, (by that I mean below 30) and needs to be so for the community to continue?

Is not being young at heart, (and by that I refer to some like myself who are much older than the average NovaHQ member), part of the reason for sites such as this to exist?

Finally I would like to point out that we are all young once in our lives and therefore we are all "noobs" to begin with so we live and learn or at least I hope we do?

I hear you BD and was going to bring this up but dont forget that you are a forum mod of general and as such have the ability to deal with this as much as any of us in a practical sence, if you see something you consider spam then you can delete it, or if you are unsure either close it and tag it for an admin check or move it to the HQHR forum and someone will see it...

Dont worry about stuffing up, weve all stuffed up some time or another, i was "That Aussie" that ticked you off in the LW forum remember??

Thanks mike and yes I remember "the Aussie" except as I recall it I called you an "oustralin", (never could bloody spell!). I will use my forum mod status but only wisely, ( I hope), when some thing obvious strikes me as needing dealing with.

Yeah, i noticed that everyone had brought the spam section to general chat aswell.

i think a lot of people see threads like "how do u like your eggs or steak"... or "what your eating" as spam... but i dont. i see them as finding out more about each other. i like threads like that. nice to come home from work and just chat useless banter over the forums!

Then again in this past month I have been posting useless stuff over these forums; It is because I have nothing better to do then this getting my mind off my dad in iraq. It helps me to think of a subject and post. But It is also fun to find out more about members, and also fun to try new stuff that the NHQ members do or eat or watch etc..

Spam is to me : Useless Information or a useless and worthyless post that has no reason for.

there is often a close call between spam and general chat. i think there was just a quick run of therads like the eggs one etc so that type of thread became noticable, i mean onece every now and again you wouldnt notice it, but when there is 10 at a time then it can be annoying for some. or seen as an easy way to raise post count.



re: kiddie forums, well idk what to say really, weve been here for 4 years and its largely remained the same, ppl change their opinions about the site, that's fine.

gaming forums are not exactly known for intellectual chat or discussion, the whole gamimg thing is suppsoed to be fun etc? there are loads of sites aimed at more 'adult' conversation which ppl can visit.

Your absolutely right there Steve old son! Life is to short for serious discussion all the time so we have to have an outlet for some fun now and then!!!!
