Windows Vista

I acquired a copy of the Windows Vista Ultimate Beta2 Build 5219 (<---- whew) and installed it.. Just here to give some first thoughts on it. I took some screen shots also for you (Link at bottom).

For starters, it looks pretty damn awesome. I love the default glass theme. It is pretty graphic intensive but I don't think too many people will have problems. It ran fine on my laptop also and that's a SIS760GX integrated chip.

As far as everything else goes, there are quite a few of nice add-ons for doing things quicker, but it's really nothing much more then Windows XP. It comes with Internet Explorer 7, and supposedly is built off the Windows 2003 core (So is Win XP x64 which I am running fulltime now). For you that don't know Windows XP is built on the 2000 (NT) core. So it's a bit more stable.

The few enhancements that I noticed were things like searching, file viewing and sorting. The networking and file sharing is also a bit easier. There are also a few more ways to customize the OS then in Windows XP. But all in all, I don't really think it's worth it. Really. I poked around for about 6 hours and didn't really notice anything that appeals to me except the theme.

It also seems to run slower, because it has a lot more 'bulk' stuff. Look at my computer specs in my sig. Win Vista didn't run choppy at all or anything, but with the default theme it takes a bit outa the computer. Just opening folders and viewing files took 35% of my cpu for a few seconds. It only takes 5% in XP x64.

I also hate the way they are going for it. I'm not 50 years old and have no computer knowledge, I am also not blind. I don't need popup’s asking me what to do and explaining things to me. I also don't need icons as big as the screen. I don't like things to be hard, but I don't like to see a bunch of bubble icons tell me how to view folders. Argh i'm sure there’s a setting to turn it off but ffs... They should make 2 brands, idiot brand and general user.

Conclusion:

I know its beta, but I didn't experience any flaws. I just don't like how it runs... My win xp x64 runs ultra quick, simple and very f****** stable. I can't crash it if I tried. I think I’ll be sticking to it for awhile after vista is out.

Well,

I view XP as a much needed OS. However, I run the 32bit? verison on my laptop. I use the classic theme because XP looks like we are living in an LSD induced world.

Vista looks great, and with IE 7 being CSS 2.0 it will be a big hit I think I will be switching after a 4 months of it being out so they can fix the bugs and have updates ready when I first boot up lol.

Billy is making it more user friendly so more and more will buy. Im sure we have options. Also, consider running an open source OS like Ubuntu...its Linux based but they are producing a Desktop Version shortly.

Link is here http://ubuntu.com/ its getting alot of hype. And Im thinking about running it if I ever bult myself a comp.

It uses NTFS chief.. I can probably use FAT32 also but I didn't try it. It requires almost 8 gigs to install. I'm playing around with windows 2003 server right now.. There is no windows 2003 for the normal desktop user. It's configured soley for server usage.

i think i stay with Windows Xp family, wish they come up with something totally new and not use something that is already made up.

if they use Windows 2003 eng all they did is revamp it is all sad so others can use it for the work place or home.

man it would be nice they come with something totally new.

love to get my hands on Windows Xp "SP3 and get IE7" mainly right now.

i am using Netscape Browser: it use IE6 and Firefox eng in it. freebee no adware or spyware in it at all.

RollEyes Heck Panther

Panther what a good theme for a screenshot

I know someone who has Windows Longhorn but I am not sure if it is a theme or something. If I had an operating system for now it would be Windows XP Professional but XP prompts you to install too many updates when on the internet. Well you install them and they clog up you computer with things. Once this Mirar toolbar installed itself onto the below space of the adress toolbar and had to toil with registry to get it off.

Things do sometimes toil. You can guess what it is for madly. Madly that these days they are like clinging spiders. Speaking of spiders on my Virus Log you can see a lot of cloaking action so thats why anyhow the firewall on. Anyhow good picture Panther. Also Panther those shots are good of that version. Aero style and black design makes it look like Linux but I do not like Linux. That version I was talking about on my Friends one was the same but in fact, in fact the toolbars looked standard like Windows 2000, Windows 2000 can catch a lot of bugs. Windows 98 seems to be the most stable. Windows versions are degrading every day. I stay with Windows 98. I do not know if you mind me making a big thread reply. But worth reading anyway because it can tell.

for now you have to be a IT Tech and they know you, still in the beta stage i think.

my IT Tech has it already, it still has bug in it need to be workout but its not a big thing to fix mostly minner.

he said Microsoft have to workout the copy right crap to start making it with things, like software mfg getting taken over like flash and shockwave and other software mfg and coding it going to take longer time. every one like to get their blood money first.

me i really like Windows Xp home or pro both are great.

windows Xp Pro is not for all, home version is better for the home users.

i seen windows Xp Pro for USD-133.00 (i think it was or 135.00) at tigerdirect.com. anyways don't buy something like a OS system from "E bay" 98% of the time it not the real thing and the Key-code been used you can count on that.
