Anyone else having problems with this update? I have had problems installing it on my pc and so have a few customers I have talked to. Any ideas?

i had a repeating update requests from windows today, relating to nForce sound drivers. even when i installed them, it kept comming back to my sys tray as a reminder to update.

That's it bro... did the exact same thing to me. Sounds like an XP Update flaw or somekinda attack.

Nvidia's latest drivers for Nforce is Sept 2004.

Yeah my XP machine won't update any of the Critical and non-Critical Updates. Funny thing is it's a Fresh copy.

I did update my GForce 4X two days back on ME machine ... no issues.

As Ath said I think this is related to XP Update.

You have Sp2 installed?

That may be why you are not getting any updates.

PS: I am calling MS to find out what is going on.

You can't update anything until you install it me thinks.

man go to windows update site look to the right side you see in blue download SP2 click-on it in there you can order it to have a Cd mail out to you ASAP (Totally free no S/H at all ether)

i got my and i have taken it to buddys house to let them instill it too. there is no key-code or anything to it. Heck MS even says share it with others too if you like to.

by the way if you can update your windows then do this do work.

start> Run> type in> chkdsk /f

a new windows popup Press "Y" hit "Enter" now restart your system, let it finish scan the hard drive, it will reboot system on it own when you get to desktop you restart your system one more time. if there any update that still needed tobe instill in at this time.

when you all done with now go to windows update site and down load your updates now.

hehe chkdsk /f is like scan disk and the switch /f means to fix the errors or bad sectors.

Well I waited on hold with MS forever and then gave up. Grr!!

gee guy i done it, some reason the first 2 or 3 updates don't get instill at all. after i do the scan disk thing then reboot after getting to desktop, woow they got instilled good. then i gone to finish updating the rest without any trouble.

1.) do the scandisk chkdsk /f
2.) back to desktop reboot again this time you do it.
3.) the 1-2 update get instill good.
4.) go back online finish getting the rest of them update they instill without any trouble at all.


by the way windows update for the GFX card they may have a older virsion listed then the one you have maybe newer, skip the windows update for the card totally if your's is newer.

I found a non-MS site which had XP SP1 and XP SP2. Downloaded and installed it last night.

Also downloaded some Updates lastnight. Will check later today.

I have Sp1 and Sp2 on cd.

BTW it was sound drivers it was trying to update.

Yeah ... there was an option on MS to get the SP2 but I was like na...
