Make firefox more like IE

I like firefox but I like the look and feel of IE alot more.. it looks more lightweight and simple..

Stumbled across this site: http://firefoxie.net/ gonna give it a shot since firefox has a little more security etc..

You're right panther.

I am having ton of problems with IE on my XP machine.

I just reinstalled XP and I have MS's antispyware and it is still screwed up.

I was like forget that and got firefox. Works great now.

Yeah it is.

My IE for no reason at all will randomly stop displaying images or will not go on certain webpages.

Tried firefox and it worked perfectly since.

Yeah mine did the same thing.

It would just show me a blank white screen. Eventually it started working again. I think I cleared all COOKIES, TEMP INTERNET FILES and reset IE defaults.

Done everything possible. I don't want to run my usual scheduled 3 weeks System Restore to Factory settings yet. So, am using FF.

IE sucks. I used to like it until it started doing that.

I still like its setup like the GUI better than firefox. Probably because I am just used to it.

I like IE because it's a lightweight.. but when im going into the unknown firefox is the only way to not get loaded with spyware and 10000 popups without 100 addons to ie.. but I just don't like the looks of firefox.. to used to ie.. so this is for people like me..

Yike i dunno about that. Firefox is good for the fact it does not contain any of the flaw's that IE has. IE is a power house for Active X spyware and adware. Firefox is protected from such things. If firefox based any of its scripting on that of IE then FireFox would have security issues too. If Firefox only chnaged its images and the way the titlebar and icons appeard thatwould be cool. and i can see them doing that to make it more like IE. Coding wise. No.

That's not all true... firefox in the last 6 months has had more security vulnerabilities then IE has.. Since it's gaining in popularity people are going to find ways around it's security (Like they already have)... It's all just a matter of who has the market share. no one wants to hack a browser that no one is using...

The hype is way over rated..

Well it also has to do with microsoft's laziness in getting their flaws fixed. Firefox is on top of it and MS doesn't seem to be.

My firefox is working IE is not...wonder why.

Well said. I think I've said it here before, but try and think like a hacker or virus/worm/trojan writer: which program are you going to write for, IE which has almost every internet user in the United States and Europe, or Firefox with its not so large share? Everything has holes...Microsoft has rooms of people whose only job is to write and fix IE. IE is simply the bigger target

Just becaues IE dosne't work on your computer dosen't mean that it is a pos product. It's always worked for me, it's shipped with windows and i'm sure your copy isn't flawed from the box. Just because you are capable of breaking your IE dosen't mean MS should run around to fix your problem. And there is a newer IE out, that you need sp2 for and it can block popups and active x. With less flaws then IE 6.

Now I bet your going to say that spyware or a virus corrupted your IE, well it's very possible. But in the comming months, it's going to plague firefox the same way. It's already begun infact.

Firefox has gained a lot of attention as a secure Web browser; however, new statistics show it is only marginally more secure than Internet Explorer, with half of Firefox's vulnerabilities reported as critical.
http://www.computerworld.com.au/inde...0;fp;16;fpid;0

The only greatness about Firefox is it can block popups and activex. So can IE for sp2 (Which isn't REALLY an argument because who wants sp2?) but people never look anything beyond hype. And that's all Firefox is, hype.

This is the same kinda crap I read about for macs... "You don't see any viruses for the mac do you?!?!? huh microsoft is sheit"...... "WTF is a mac?" sais 90% of people online. I think that should get the point across. If it dosen't it never will.

PS this is not to piss you off athalon, just my part of your argument.

Yeah I get your point panther. But honestly I had formatted and restored two times in the same day. IE had the same issue. I have no idea how spyware could screw it up so fast.

Anyway maybe I will mess around with some stuff on it tonight. I guess that is the part of being a company that is a monopoly that comes back to kick you in the butt.
