In making one of my maps for DF-BHD yesterday I got the error message that I exceeded the number of allowable physical objects (over one-thousand), but the mission editor appeared to allow me to save the changes. I went back into the map to test it and everything looked ok (although I have over a thousand of the same item so it's hard to say whether any changes actually took or not). Do I have to go back and reduce the number of items below the allowable limit, in order for the map to work properly on the internet? I haven't added any player spawns yet either so I want to make sure I can fit in the correct number of items before submitting the map.
Thanks! Tom |

it probably didnt save them. you can test by selecting one, then right click, select this type (iirc), it should say bottom left how many items there are.
there are differnt number limits to differnt things, e.g. you can have 1024 objects, and 256 markers (spawns) (i think its 256 but i cant remember 100%), etc |

Bummer, I'll only have 1024 parts to my maze then! I've reduced the map boundaries considerably to adhere to allowable parts but I'll have to lose about 30 more pieces and open up the middle a bit. Thanks!

im not sure what the total limit is i thinki 1024 as steve has said but in the MIS it will save alot more than allowed however they may not show up in the BMS.
in some areas try using a different item that can take the place of a few of whatever item you may be using if u find you can substate 1 item for 3. 25 new items would take the place of 75 this would free up 50 items its best to try and keepdown to 800 or less items if possible. this way the map can be played by a wider variety of people. therefore more people would play it and it would have a less chance of being dumped by a server on account of lag Last edited by peregrine falcon; 03-08-2005 at 07:06 PM. |
