thinking

hi,

at the moment im running a p3 600hmz which is crap but none the less with some ram and a new graphics card I have it working pretty well but still slow... I thinking of putting in a new processor "AMD (Newcastle) Athlon 64 Bit 3000+ 754pin 512kb L2 Cache Processor - OEM " cause I heard there a lot better than a p4, and Im gonna get a new mobo that supports the chipset.

how well would the amd64 run cod and jo-ops as in speed in loading into a server cause on a p3 its takes a while =|, and can anyone be able to tell me some info on a good mobo board that supports the 64 but a tad cheap? cause i buying other pc goodies too.

Go with a Gigabyte or an ASUS board.

Amd's kick trash, I have a slower 2800+ and it loads it way faster than a p4.

Yup, that is why you don't get em online. I got my board from a computer store... There was another one besides gigabyte that was a good brand but I forgot.

30 out of how many thousands? Also, you have to realize alot of these DOA's are simply due to people have no idea what on earth they're doing. Chances are they forgot to hook something up, plug something in all the way, or touched the wrong thing.

If you seriously want a good mobo, go with Asus. It is the recognized leader in gaming. I think it also roughly translates to English as "badass"

Really, if you're looking to save money, a 64 bit isn't the way to go. You're going to pay out the ear for a decent mobo. And always always remember, you get what you pay for. On mine that I built, I just wanted something now, and I settled for a cheaper board. I had problems left and right, and now wish I'd spent the extra $30. If I had, I wouldn't need to upgrade now (which will run $800). You can't cut corners when it comes to this stuff if you seriously want something that runs like it should.

The first two are mobos and the last two are cpu's. The prices have actually come down quite a bit since I last looked. For all practical purposes, you're not going to get the best rig for cheap...it just doesn't work that way (unfortunately). My suggestion is to not try to get off cheap, because you're not going to...just save the extra $100 or so to get what you really want, so you won't kick yourself every day for not doing that.

Yup, I fried one of my friend's mobo's because I left one of the screws that hold the mobo up in the wrong place and it touched the board.

Anywho...they replaced it free of charge
