home living...
Just wondering what ya's think about having to pay for board and meals at your own house, i know it sounds very funny and kinda lame, but a friend of mine, whom is same age as me at 18, still in school doing Yr 12, living at home with her parents.
She has a part time job outside of school, and gets paid around $200 a week (200$aus = around 100$us) and has been placing it away into a savings account for her future well being. She has only just had to start paying for her rent and meals in the last 4 months, and she has been saving for about 5 years, but point is that the amount of money she has to pay her parents to live in her own house, is $120 a week for boarding, and $50 for food, and out of the $200 that she gets every week, she is only left $30 for her own use, and that isnt a very big amount to be putting away for he savings. What is your opinion on this topic? because i know what mine is, and alot of my friends agree with me. Sure, her parents have the right to make her pay for board and meals, buthaving to pay $170 for it every week to live in your own house with your parents, its just ludacris to say the least, they are your parents and you shouldnt need to have to pay to live with your own parents, at least not that amount of money.

My first thought is, how did all of this come about? What did her parents do? One day she came home from work and they dropped it in her lap? Without any explaination?
Do her parents need the money to help pay bills? I think I need a bit more info. I have 3 children and one more on the way. I think the only reason I would have my 18 year old pay rent, is if my wife and I didnt have the money. Or if the child in question was taking the house for granted, or needed a lesson in being an adult, then maybe.

i do believe that her parents were in financial difficulty...
and no, she does not take the house for granted, she sleeps there, eats there, studies there, and rarely goes out of a night time to have an enjoyable time... she is very dedicated to school

only 30.00 to use per/week after paying them is not much for work for bottom line it burns think about it you work have to pay 90% of your pay to them that burns maybe lose the job he/she is working for free 30.00 to show for 40hrs is not much hope she/he put that saving away in another bank they don't know have the checks/notice from them bank to a buddie home for her/he can keep it save.
but she may have to bale them out if they are that bad its up to the person
