the proper way to add the music is through events, area triggers and mission variables.

taken from a post over at DFB:

"MUSIC:
[My thanks go out to Vlad here for discovering this technique]

1) In the general information window for the map, enter a number in the "Global Effects, Music" field. Most even numbers between 0 and 20 will work, and some odd numbers as well. 14, for example, works.

2) You must set up an area (by placing two area triggers (markers/area trigger) numbered the same in the waypoint number section) in which the player must enter in order for the music to start playing. The area should be given the "Music var4" setting of 80.

3) To have the music change, repeat the steps in 2), but increment the var4 setting by 1 (i.e. 81,82,83....). You will have varying levels of success with these successive numbers depending on the Global Music value you selected.
"

Beyond that, can't help you, other then suggesting you swing by DFB and do some searching there. I haven't seen any one posting any info over here about music in maps.
