Computer restored by itself...

ok this is really weird, from what my dad told me last night the computer was on and it restored itself...

i had to find my back-up files and redo it all

i was just wondering if anyone could explain or give me a link to why this would happen because this is really irritating...

Do you have any restore programs that are set to run every once in a while?

I'm not too sure... lol. Is it a virus or something maybe? Have you done a scan recently?

trouble check see if system restore is enable, some time if the system go back or some one other enable it can happen.

recheck it to see if it still disable

i know software like RestoryIt and goback will Auto-restory the system daily if the option in enable on a timer for 24hrs bam.

but your case sound like some one enable the "system restore"
=====================================
check the
Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> "Scheduled Tasks"
some ghost may have set a "Scheduled" restory timer up in there as will

see the "Scheduled Tasks" will click-on it and see what type of timers been Scheduled for your system.

could be your PSU is over heating and the system close down or restart

don't know if it could restart, would think it be more like power out for the PSU same for over heated CPU as will.

is this going on every day? its restore to a Early time

sounds like it could be something in your system letting a 3rd party in (as you online) to screw with your head.

scan for a virus in safemod and some for adware/spyware as will

don't know if windows will restore it if there is a unsign driver would do this. there is a way to disable that option. most have it disable anyways but it something to think about

Doesnt sound like a virus or an intrusion issue. at best both would NOT want a sys restore to happen.

Like i said i had an update and my comp did a restore. just a couple system files only. most likely this is what had happened since he also recieved an update and got a restore around the same time period as myself. mine happened 2 days prior though.

If there is missing files or the comp is doing some strange stuff on occasion, or the internet connection is always being used then there could be other issues. if its running normal and no problems then i wouldnt worry too much about it because it didnt hurt anything, and probably was needed to avoid problems.

@ William - no this isn't going on every day, it was just on Friday and i have been running my anti-virus and ad-aware daily to make sure before i back all of my computer up again while it is still running good, and i was wondering if someone was hacking me that day if i can remember because my computer would go all screwy and weird stuff would happen even after i would restart my computer...

-----

but i forgot something earlier, when my computer restored the only things i lost was my documents and all my settings, all of my programs was still on my computer which was weird like my whole Program Files folder was untouched like if someone was hacking me they only wanted to delete the documents...
