Piri Piri anyone?

Think Piri Piri is strong?

Don't take a big bit off this like i did:



Not the best picture but this is the famous Habanero and I took a bit of it with the "wall" which is the strogest part of any Chili. This is the Red Savina (Dominican Devil's Tongue Pepper), it's one of the hottest chili in the world!

It's anything from 2 to 5 times hotter then regular Habanero (it's yellow in color, you can see it in the box to the left on the picture)

I wanted to cut my inner bits of my mouth with a knife to get rid of the horrible pain! It's a horrible experiense but I kind of want to do it again haha

i did that with a pepper once, but i didnt bite it, i just touched my tongue with a small peice of one, it burnt like hell! lol when i looked at my tounge in the mirror it had a dark red spot from the pepper lol

i use to grow them Habanero yellow ones in my home, i eat two of them whole.

god you feel it going down all the way too.

could not get that taste out of my mouth for a whole week ether.

thats one pepper that should be banned from the open market

thats a good way to kill a stomach flu, just eat a hand full of cyans chyannes,???, and thatll kill ya stomach flu.

i used to eat the cyannes by the hand fulls, ok going down but wait till ya have to go, thats the worst burn.

yep the burning back blast is a killer when you release the full force of it going out of you.

Ah reference to the Piri Piri or African Devil as its called. It's top rate is at 175 000 SHU, Yellow habanero is at tops 300 000 SHU, the Dominican Devil's Tongue Pepper (the one on the picture) tops at 580 000 SHU. The world strongest (Dominican Devil's Tongue Pepper used to be) is the Indian Bih Jolokia thats rated to 1 042 000 SHU.

The pure substance is rated to 16 000 000 SHU

Jalapeno < 10 000 SHU
Cayenne < 50 000 SHU

these peppers my neighbors grow .. i dont even know what there called .. there small and red .. hottest god damn thing i ever had

found some back ground on: Bih Jolokia and the American version

The names given to the Jolokia chilli pepper by the Assamese give us a clue to the heat that is waiting for anyone brave enough to take a bite - Bih Jolokia means poison chilli pepper and Bhut Jolokia means Ghost/Spirit chilli pepper.

In 2001, The Chile Pepper Institute received seed of a chilli named 'Bhut Jolokia' from a member who had collected it while visiting the area of Assam in India. So Four years of extensive field tests by The Institute the 2005 heat test was on. The heat test recorded the Bhut Jolokia chilli at a staggering, lip numbing, mind blowing 1,001,304 Scoville Heat Units by the Chile Pepper Institute and the Bih Jolokia chilli tested at 1,041,427 by Frontal Agritech the famous Assamese Chilli Growers.
