RAT (Remote Administration Tool)
Can anyone tell me how to use RAT? Also if you could give me a complete list of command lines, that would be great.

I'm not sure how the RAT Program works.
If you are looking for Server commands ( like punting or banning) check out these server commands in these posts https://www.novaworld.com/forums/Topic1789131-46-1.aspx

the commands a pretty straight forward
type help, it will show the different command catagories (ie, player, get, set, mission, weapons,) typing in the command catagory and hitting enter will show you how to use the sub-commands. Ie, to punt: type in players list Get the player ID number then type in player punt idnumberhere to swap teams: player list player swapteam playerid If you just type in player and hit enter, it will show the available subcommands. Other thing you could do is locate and download wolfrat. That will give you a nice user interface, then you don't have to worry about the commands. |

Most of those commands were for Joint Operations : Typhoon Rising, and may or may not work for DFX. I've not tried those commands, so I can't help you much there. But it looks like you do have the ability to control your server through the BANLIST file inside your DFX folder.

I copied this from the banlist file inside the DFX folder.
//--------------------------------------------------- // NovaLogic Ban List File //--------------------------------------------------- // This file contains a list of PCID's (Public Customer ID's) // that you, as a game server host, chose to exclude from // joining your game server. // // This file loads into memory when the game is run, and // is modified by the game server when people are BANNED or UNBANNED using // the BAN and UNBAN commands on the ~ command line in the game. // // Do not modify this file while the game is running! // VERSION 1 // Usage: BAN "pcid goes here" "optional player name" // // Example: // BAN "A-MM-WXXIB2" "Knightmare" // BAN "A-WC-WXXIAD" Looks like all you do is hit the ~ key, then type in BAN "pcid goes here" "optional player name" or UNBAN "pcid goes here" "optional player name"

Thank you, but where is icishoot? He seemed to know what he was doing. Also, I'm not necessarily interested in booting people as much as hosting a game through RAT. That's possible, isn't it?

RAT cannot start the game. You have to have the game running. rat just lets you manage the maps, players, server settings and weapons remotely.
To get rat running on the server, you have to first edit server game.cfg file and locate the remote_admin port setting, and set it to the port you want to use. Then you have to edit the admin.cfg file and set up your username, password and access rights. Both files are in the dfx folder, and the port specified will have to be opened in your router to allow access from outside your network. To connect to the dfx server via rat you type in open serveriport it will then ask for your username and password. DFX supports several of the JO commands for dealing with the player (you can swap, kill, punt, ban and zero score), plus the other commands. The one thing it doesn't support is the chat commands. So you can't use rat to monitor chat, or to talk to the players in the server. IcI |

Ok, I checked out that website. I get everything all the way up to the point where i have to enter the IP address. So I set the port number as 45000, but I'm not sure what IP address I'm supposed to put in. Do I put in my IP address? In other words, how do I find the server IP?

better use a higher number for the port (I use 7000).
Setting that port will automatically enable you to access the server via rat. But you also have to set up the username and password. IcI |

Ok. What's the server's IP?

Wait. I guess I have to go into my router to allow a port, right? So I set the Name of the program to allow as RAT. then it says start and end, I don't really know what that means so I put in 0 and 2000. (2000 being the port i chose.) Then in Protocol, I put both, not really knowing what RAT needed. Then for the IP address, I put my computer's address. Now that I've saved that, I go into rat and type the following:
open ***.***.*.***:2000 (the stars are MY IP address.) then I hit enter. It says that the server refused my connection. What am I doing wrong? Am I not supposed to be typing in my IP? |

First, just to let you know you only need to open up the port you chose, so you only need to put in the port you chose (2000).
You have dfx hosting a server before you connect? |

You mean I should start a multiplayer game before I start RAT?

Well, I finally got it to work. For everyone's Information, here's the exact way to use RAT and get it to work:
------------------------ 1.Go to the Default directory you installed Delta Force Xtreme. A. Open up the configuration file called admin. B. Look at the very bottom where it says //Username Password Rights. Under it, it should show a fake username and password. Ignore the rights colum and change the fake username and password with your own. DO NOT change what's in the rights. C. Put // infront of ip_restrict. I don't exactly know why, but you should. D. Save the file. 2. Now open up the configuration file named game. A. Scroll all the way to //MULTIPLAYER then keep scrolling until you see remote_admin_port = 0. B. Change the "0" to any number you want. I reccomend keeping it in the thousands, like 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, so on. (Make sure you remember your number.) C. Save that file. 3. Open Delta Force Xtreme and host a multiplayer game. 4. Open RAT, and type the following: open ***.***.***.***: #### (the *s are your IP address and the #s are your number that you just set. 5. Hit ENTER and it should say USERNAME. Type in your username and hit ENTER. 6. It should say PASSWORD. Type in your password and hit ENTER. 7. You should now be logged into the game you are hosting. --------------------------------------------------- I'm not exactly sure of the command lines yet, so I will update this message. --------------------------------------------------- If you aren't sure of your IP address, look at the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Depending on the type of connection you have, (wireless or wired) it should show a computer with a radio signal comming out of it, or 2 computers with flashing screens. Right click on that icon and hit status. Hit support and look at the IP Address. That's what you type in. --------------------------------------------------- For any more support, please E-mail me or PM me. ~thegamingperson |
