Love this plane :D
Can do a take off at around/less then 400 metres of runway and 500 for a landing. To compare, a F16 needs 2400+ metres to do a take off. JSF and Harrier can of course perform better but they are STOVL, Gripen is a STOL (thats actually chair in swedish hehe)
![]() Carrier landings has been performed in simulators without using arrestor hook, never been performed in real life though. Heres a nice video ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVw49DAkbQY |

Heres the Swedish Team 60
They have the same planes since 1970 though and not nice F/A-18 would be nice with 6 JAS 39C instead ![]() They unfortently also change pilots every now and then. During the 90ies there ware no pilots at all ![]() http://www.team60.mil.se/article.php?1&id=8194 Last edited by SilentTrigger; 07-25-2006 at 07:03 AM. |

Red Arrows are awsome!
I live near a military airfield (well maybe not near as just around the corner but not that far). One of the "flight paths" was over our house. We had low flying JAS 39 and JA 37 every other day. They sometime came so low that the whole house would shake like in a small size earth quake. Was awsome! Also helos form the same base (F7 Såtenäs) would fly in low over our house, I love the sound of low flying helicopters, can hear how the blades cut through the air! ![]() Also remember first time I heared automatic guns. Was a kid at around 7 years old was home alone after school when I started hearing something, stoped and listened, I just knew it was gun fire. Not sure how I knew it as it was the first time, I just did. I was later told that there had been an army exercise down town with autimatic rifles. I debeted myself at the time I heared it if some had gone to war with Sweden or not. This was around the end of the cold war. I was pretty scared, if it had been the same day as they test the air sirens I'm sure I would have dived under the bed! I tried to think that it was nothing, but it was hard! I even thought about getting my "dog tag" but I never did. |
