![]() ![]() ![]() So you shouldnt cover your face but i usually do it when im on a bike down a slope in those temps, but if i was without civilasation near by i would rather freeze then put something in front of my face. Same with sleeping in a sleeping bag when its cold (you probebly know this already but theres always someone that dont, like mike! ![]() ![]() The calculated survival time for someone whos not acustom to the climat up at the north parts of Sweden is expected to live for no more then 20 minutes. While a prepered and knowlageble person can live foor weeks, the most and hardest bit is water, thats the most likley way to die in those temps. Infact, Ray Mears said him self that the Swedish army has the thoughest and best survival training in the world when it comes to cold places, quite interesting. And i remember seeing US Army Rangers or if it was Marines (think it was rangers) training in cold envirements, it was in the mountain area of north USA and it looked like a day care expedition compared to the Swedish. It was more likley to get sun burns there then frost bites hehe (US army rangers) where in Sweden frost bites (frozen body parts) is a comman part, where GIs have had toes amputated snow blindness etc. GIs are put out in the wilderness without anything, just a kinfe and a steel they can make fire with and the cloths they are waring, at around a week. They will have no connection to any civilasation and they are alone or at tops 2 persons in a group with mil (Swedish mil is 10 KM, and mil can be both one and serveral without changing the spelling) apart, its also in training to butcher raindeers and hunt them. The US training that the Rangers training involved food (MERS, or what they are called) and a nice warm snowy area with just a coulpe of days in those place (this included the test) and they are in big groups rather then induviduals or two. That might be outdated though was a year or so since i saw that program about the US armys "arctic" training. And compare to the Swedish training it looked like a satire heh ![]() Even thought it was considered as a world class training part (not commenting on the other training, bet that is world class of it, but the so called "arctic" training was a joke, we would call that a hot day in march ![]() The Sweidish army survival training is unfortently beeing faced out ![]() Can still get a feeling of the training through Ray Mears (posted a link to his page with that course in another thread, its not even close to the real thing, you live in warm cousy cottages heh, no real surviving but you are thought the basics by Ray and Our (former) army survival trainer) Last edited by SilentTrigger; 11-04-2005 at 07:00 AM. |
