It has finally hit me...

... the computer is the most addicting thing in the whole world

hear me out on this...

i love computers, computers are here to stay, and are a vital part of society and the way we LIVE, yes, it controls everything and sometimes its controls us to much, i just got call of duty 2, quite addicting as i love fps, and this series of games, it has hit me i am wasting my life, i have spent 33 hours playing it in the last 6 days, so me thats pathetically to much, so i am going to try to keep myself away from the computer, and do more stuff, god i don't know why i am sharing this, but i have heard of plenty of people here getting off the computer and getting a life

it not the only thing.

try to think like this you see.

you live in the city there no more electric at all, no more motor cars/trucks of any type working at all, all of them dead to the world, Computers, water systems, lighting on the road way.

i bit not many even know how to live on the land at all, getting work done, make fire year on end, getting any type of food to eat. in the USA it self i say 1/2 of it will die off do to not knowing how to live off the land at all. 1960s we been moving away from living off the land totally. sad.

we live in a world in most area in the USA we live hand in hand in daily life style with electric in way or another. most can't even live without it. hosp, banks, wallstreet, airports..ect

now thats is scary and it can happen too.

You all don't have to completly give up the computer to have a social life.. You just need to learn how to control what your doing online.. Maybe try and learn something.. I learned alot from being on the computer 24/7, and now I work from home. Let me tell you it wasen't hard to do, but took time.. I don't have much of a social life atm because I just moved here but when I was back in ND I was on the computer all the time and had a social life on the weekend nights.. 33 hours gaming seems a bit much though for 6 days.. try doing something else online... I used to play alot of games.. now I can only play for a little more then an hour at a time..

i never rellay cared fer social situations.
most of the time i never have anything in comon with people.
i can live off the land, i even know how to prepair a pine tree lol.
but most of the time im alone, even when im in a crouded area i feel alone,
i see people everywhere just totaly oblivious to what is happining around them.
most of the time the people i meet talk alot but say absolutly nothing.

so i mostly steer clear of social situations fer most of the time i say something that just goes right over their head that they dont know what it means and they just go all weird on me.
just because i can recite the actual meaning of a word as it is wrote in a dictionary, im automaticly turned away.
so i do, i avoid people, most of the time, i just go from home, to the gas station and back home or from home to work and then back home.

iv never been to a bar, to a fancy restraunt, never been on a date, i didnt even go out of my yard excep for going to school till i was like 18, and that was to job hunt.
i spent most of my time in school by myself, just readin or something.
untill i got bigger i used to get teased a lot, got transfered from 1 school for all the trouble i was suposed to be causing, when i was just sitting there minding my buisness doing nothing a couple of assholes would start something with me and i would just be defending myself and i got in trouble for it, it happened a lot so in all their infinate dumbness the school board sent me to the EC (Emotional Conflict) class at another school,, so i mostly avoided every1.
i dont really figure i will ever really trust any1.
and to tell you the truth ive given up on a social life, i for some reason just stoped caring.
i just dont know what to do.
ill shut up now

Personally I love the time I spend on my computer and interacting with others online. I know a lot of that time is spent playing games but I find many people are willing to chat on Teamspeak or what ever so it's a social thing as well as a gaming experience.

As I have arthritis my pc has become even more important and I'm inspired by Panther and others here who have built their own computers and am now attempting to build one for myself.

For me the personal computer is one of mankinds greatest achievements as it breaks down international barriers and allows me to come to great websites like NovaHQ and meet up with people who I've come to look upon as my friends and comrades in arms!!!!

Warmest Regards to all

For all the arguments that computers are taking away from your social life, i reckon in 99% of cases all computers are taking away is time that would have been spent watching TV or on the consoles....

That and you cant say that forums arent socializing, its just in a impersonal sort of way. I found that when i attempted to socialize with people my own age that they were generally idiots, a view that i have now windened to 90 of the population, thats why i hang out with academics, lawyers and politicans...

get an instant messanger or somtheing, cause the comptuter dosnt ruin your life, tv, videogames and other stuff is just as addicting as the computer, take some classes on the compuer, learn how to code html, learn how to hack or somthing else, cause it dosnt waste your life, 33 hours is not alot, cause you spent at least 40 hours sleeping in 6 days

basically the same as me, although i dont always play, i use the PC for more "social" things, during a holiday, id stumble out of bed, wake up, turn PC on and check the posts on various websites.. then take a few hours doing other things.. then id come back and go onto ventrilo and litrally talk to squad mates until i nearly fall asleep, and during that time id maybe play 2 hours of games lol

lol tis a very good subject!!!

i see my computer and video games as something to do if i cant go out. a while ago (while i could afford it) i was out every single night, clubbing and pubbing with my mates, but now i just go out once or twice a week if i can afford it. i play video games, chat on teamspeak and watch dvd's as a way to pass the night lol.

Yeah Im in college I work, sleep, eat, go to school, and relax at hq. My fiancee lives in FL and all my friends live on the east side of the state. With the exception of one who spends all his time on the east side.

But I would game but I rather be on a squad for lw but no one wants me lol.

So I just relax here...being a forum nazi.

Use to be addicted to delta force...never left the house.
