H-L2 users banned

Valve has barred a staggering 20,000 Steam users from playing Half-Life 2 after a duplicated CD key was discovered to be in widespread circulation amongst cheapskate gamers.

Basically, if your CD Key reads 5J52E-FVKXV-882FQ-YJXRQ-DOD98, then chances are you're gonna be paddling in hot water, with any opportunities for going on the rampage with a Gravity Gun currently forecast as: zero to none.

The announcement was posted by Valve on the official Steampowered users forum, with the warning: "If you violate the Steam Subscriber agreement your account can be permanently disabled and you will lose any products registered to those accounts." The large figure, which has accumulated in just one week since the game's release, is a pretty worrying indication of the level of piracy and illegal file-sharing occurring within the gaming world.

On slightly more comforting news, the same thread also said that the developer was looking into problems caused by strict copy protection, that is hampering some owners of the CD and DVD editions

yeah kick those with a illegal copy off the net, the more they get the better.

If you like a game buy it. If you cant afford work for it. Theres always a chance to raise the money for it

Smile

As Katana says....it serves them right if they have an illegal copy of the game. It's not that expensive to buy the genuine article if you shop around on the net!
