AMD vs Intel
I know this has been out for awhile, but I just read into it a little bit more tonight... I read the whole 48 page complaint AMD filed against Intel... At first I thought it was just for AMD to gain market share through publicity, but after reading and then taking a look around I found that AMD's claims are true..
Mostly what AMD claims is that intel "bullies" computer manufactures like Dell, Hp, gateway etc into buying only Intel cpu's, or limiting them to only a certain ammout of AMD cpu's. If you read the document you'll find a better description of that.. I go looking around the internet at dell.com, gateway.com and hp.com and notice that the statements are true. I don't think I have ever seen an AMD cpu in a dell system, even though AMD's are far more powerfull. As many people know, AMD is alot cheaper and more advanced then intel in almost every aspect other then video compression / decompression, so why wouldn't they be put into these computers? http://www.amd.com/us-en/Weblets/0,,...?redir=CORBF02 I like AMD far more then intel, mainly because they are the underdog & have a strong product. Same for me with ATi. It makes me wonder why companies like nVidia and Intel dominate when there competitors (ATi/AMD) are cheaper, yet more advanced. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think all they have going for them is a very very strong media backing. Look at Intel's huge "Intel Inside" campaign. No one had a clue what on earth they [Intels] were, but if the pc had an Intel inside, it was probably pretty good. They've simply hit the media a lot harder than AMD has.
nVidia has a similar story. ATI was the background, "new" company, while nVidia was the strong company. They had/have their GeForce line, which was hyped big time on everything from TV to parts catalogs. Also, they're on all the major games. The latest, I opened up the BF2 box, out falls an nVidia ad. They had a little intro movie on the demo. They've got this in tons of games. Simply put, AMD and ATI haven't played the media like Intel and nVidia have. Once people see which companies really offer the good stuff, I think we'll see a rapid decrease in Intel and nVidia stock. |

been reading through the whole text now... dam.. Intel sure puts pressure on the companys.. Man i wished i was multimillionaire.. I would go for AMD for sure.
Theres must be something wrong with Intel´s selling policys, otherwise they woudnt have such a big share in the market. it is that im not much of a typer otherwise the message would be lots bigger

Only aspect about AMD is that they run at higher temps, it gets so hot in the room during the summer with the computer on haha

I can't remember were on tomshardware.com I found it, but they did some math about companies running Intel vs. AMD and AMD would (if OEM's weren’t forced to sell Intel only) save them thousands of money each month, just on the electric bill if they had a few hundred computers in the building. Intel has a better name because they were the first. But, on top of that Intel is not letting AMD compete if Intel makes OEM's buy only Intel systems. How hard would it be to get your name out if every company that tries and support AMD gets "bullied" from Intel? Intel is the money powerhouse here and money rules the world. But there is a difference from playing fair and what Intel is doing.

I work for one of those computer manufacturers.
Honestly for the one I work for, we sell about the same amount of AMD and Intel. Intel usually has the most problems too I think Gateway does pretty much only sell Pentium systems too

The OEM's will come around, just like they did when people started building their own computers because it was cheaper.
