Gameplay vs Graphics

The title says all. What do you people look for in a game? Gameplay or Graphics?

Personally, Gameplay AND replay value come first on my list. Graphics to me is irrelevant.

I got the idea after i told some stupid little kid off for saying that "all gamers want the graphics" when this is false. Why would you want to spend your entire gaming session staring at eye-candy instead of playing the game itself??

I Love the gameplay. I don't care bout the gfx that much, but i'll still whip out a df1 and play a bit and enjoy it

for some games both but i love df2 still and play it every chance i get. some games have such good game play that people can't put them down.

Gameplay, unless the graphics are just down right awful

I tried to play DF2 a while back. Staring at a badguy who is big and blocky even at over 400m away was to much. I got out after 5 min.


I guess my baseline for graphics is BHD. as long as a game is equal to or better then bhd graphics wise then game play kicks in.

i picked gameplay, mostly because of a restrictingly small video card. so i have no choice but to put the graphics on low, but once i get something that can pull some power, im settin the settings way up!!

Some fiend removed both my and the other other dude's comments about gameplay and graphics. If they hadn't I'd be able to show you what the idiot said. It was so stupid it was funny. And my feet feel wierd...

Well, i'l ltry and recall what he said.

We were commenting on a UT2007 screenshot. You have all seen that game so far? With its beefed up graphics and stuff? Well, some people were going on how they were going to but the game, some were going on about how it would never work on their pcs. Then someone said something like:

"The original UT will always be the best [I agreed with him/her]. The other ones are just games full of mindless violence, but there is nothing necassarily wrong with that"

Then out of nowhere this moron goes:

"The original UT sucks. Its graphics are really crap. The newer ones have awesome graphics. You all need to stop living in the past because teh graphics are what everyone looks for in a game..."

Then he went on for another 2 paragraphs about graphics is better than gameplay.

Naturally upon looking at this, i shook my head in annoyance and launched the attack, proving him wrong that gameplay overrides graphics. I even puleld a quote from one of my workmates:

"Even if teh graphics do look good, you're going to get sick of looking at it all the time."

50/50 for me. i cant play a game these days that has poo gfx, yet if a game has kickass gfx and terrible gameplay, i also wont play it
