DFX2 frequent Lockups & System Dumps solved.

Since last July, I have tried numerous times to host DFX2, only to give up each time in frustration do to frequent Lockups and System Dumps. At first, I tried a couple time to reinstall the game, but the same problem came up. I deleted the cache files and game.cfg file NUMEROUS TIMES to no avail. I started searching for a super glitchy object that might be causing the problem, such as that indonesian civilian boat does in DFX, but found nothing. I ran the game update NUMEROUS TIMES but it said I had the current version.

Then I finally thought I noticed that the most current update had a release date of July 30, 2009 (but I cannot find that date now); and the version of UPDATE in my folder was downloaded July 26, 2009. Both had the same update number, so I figured I had better manually replace the older one with the newer one. IT WORKED, NO LOCKUPS OR SYSTEM DUMPS. Since I now only find the UPDATE with a Release Date of July 24, 2009, I have to assume I was wrong about the July 30, 2009 release date. But with the results being positive, it appears the UPDATE file I had was corrupt, and simply replacing it manually solved the problem.

I have heard of others having the same problems with Lockups and System Dumps, and I was having them even tho I have a Quad Core Processor and two GeForce 9500 GT's running in SLI mode. So try replacing the UPDATE file manually if you have this problem and remember to Delete the CACHE files and the game.cfg file before booting the game. Then remember to reset your Host Preferences before hosting.
