£1,000 is too much
but there is no real point in speccing it now as the parts will be much cheaper in Oct and you will be able to buy different/better parts then

say i know it doesnt help much, hmm.

dual core AMD's will be out early nxt year i think, things will change big then.

Once again I need the currency rates.

I think that if you're building a decent PC you can do it for under $1500 USD.

Lemme see...64 bit mobo is around $80-90, Ram...2 gigs is around $300 ...GFX card $400...hard drive $60....case..$90....processer $300. That is about $1300....if you look around I bet you can find better deals.

An easy guesstimator is that one US dollar is worth half as much as one pound.

I think 600 pounds would be plenty. I could build two super nice gamers with that
