redoing my whole HHD and down grading windows from Windows XP pro to Windows XP home version.

reason is something is not right my tech has a volume lic thing with Microsoft and they telling me it is pirated software but the tech telling me it is ok it not pirated at all it good if i like to ask Microsoft will i did all i got was double talk from them. got tire of it all going to get Windows XP home version Monday or Tuesday some time when i do going to reformat the HHD.

i may not be back online for 2-4 day's reinstilling all the software back in and updates to boot.

don't think i trust any IT Tech volume lic crap again hate double talk tech says one thing and Microsoft says another.

don't know who is lying the most Microsoft or the IT Tech.

i may keep the IT Tech for help but will not trust their volume so call lic at all.

tell the truth i was a bet scare reason my gateway System Restorations Cd's 3ea were in bad shape, i wash them off in the sink and dry them off with paper towel, then taken them and burn a Cd of each of them off.

i got Windows Xp home upgrade version this one need to have windows 98/ME/2000 already instill, i was being cheap about it USD-97.00. anyways i was happy in the end it workout good.

one update for windows xp to get and instill and then on to MS-office 2003 to update afterwards.

hardware:
Printer software/drivers still need to get them.
Scanner software/Drivers still need to get them.
Tv-card all good to go, already had them.

Software:
to many to list 1/2 of them instill still get the rest of them instill and updated.

unplug "Zip-250mb drive" it cost too much for floppys USD-75.00 a shot.

next 6mo buying a New USB port card to add-in to the tower 2.0

You actually don't have to have win 98/me/2000 or any other os installed to install the upgrade.

I'm in the process of installing XP home edition upgrade on my dads computer. When I went to go install xp on a fresh drive, it just asked for the windows cd (98, me, 2000, nt, etc). I popped it in, hit enter, it did what ever then asked for the xp cd again and proceeded to install.

will i instill a my sound card software and they whole system really gone bad, to a point i no longer E-Drive CD/DVD writer, D-DVD-Cdrom, be sides other things gone bad.

i taken that SOund card Cd and broken it up, the software was no good for Windows Xp to be use.

3/4 way done with this PC, what a headack it been redid it 2x.

will updated windows xp all done now, doing MS-office 2003 now. updating it.
