no, it's not a rumor. The chip itself exists, the rumor is that a few places have tested it and got extremley amazing results with it..

Lol you two posted while i was writing that comment.

And, that's true about the support for crossfire boards. On ATI's site they say that Alienware supports ATI's dual card setup yet i haven't seen it listed on thier site.

ATI will come out with a X1800 dual card solution when people start realizing that Nvidia isn't all-mighty and more support for ATI comes around.

i am one that prefers the ATI card but once i got this comp it already had a GeForce 6200 so i stuck with it
