isnt a media center extender just a pc running the software on a media net just like a computer is to a network?

My xbox 360 has media center, this PC has windows media center on it. all of the music, videos and crap on this PC can be viewed by the xbox 360 by opening up media center from the dashboard, and finding other media center extenders.

Well, I've a Windows Vista Home Premium with Media Center in it. It's connected to my HDTV. How do I connect my Window Media Center 2005 edition to Windows Vista Howe Premium PC if I want to view pics and movies in latter from former? I think Extender is need to mediate b/w the two.

Windows Vista Howe Premium -> Extender ( e.g. XBOX 360) -> Window Media Center 2005 ?

If I understand it correctly, they all act as an extender to one another. when you start up windows media center, its scans your network for other extenders just like it. I also remember having to display a code from my 360, and then walk over to my pc to type that code in which I guess its letting it know to check 'there' to scan every time it runs. have you went into the options in media center and looked up how to connect to other media center devices?
