LW Map Making Help

I have read several posts on this and none really helped me. My question is how to put sounds in maps. I have the pff editor and can see and play the files I want, but how do I use or access these files from the MED. I dont see a way in the MED to import wav files. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I havent opened the med in years, so I cant talk you through it off the top of my head, but if its dialogue you want (King 6 to all elements, move in and secure the hostage type stuff) then see if you can make sence of this post

any queries feel free to ask, but no guarantees

Environmental sounds im pretty sure you just add as an item, though you may need the unlocked med, which is in the download section of this site...

custom sounds is really pushing my memory, I think someone did develop a utility to enable it but its been nearly 10 years...

and I can't remember if a WAC is tied to the LW game or not, info I supply is post BHD so if all else fails try me!!!!!
ensure your custom made .wav files are in 22khz mono (for speech anyway)
open your game .wac
if NO trigger is required to activate sound file then just go ahead with

if never() then
wave("nameofwavefile.wav")
endif
if trigger required then

if SSNnearSSN(10000,100,3)
wave("nameofwavefile.wav")
endif
{ie, if player is near Social Sec number 100, tree?? and 3 meters wasy do this}

good luck

Thanks BlackBelt.

The link to that post made perfect sense to me. I already knew the directory where the file was just not how to get it into my map. The readme file that he had included in his zip file explained how to do it. Gonna try it tonight. If it don't work you will seee another post LOL.

Hats off and I bow down to The Freezer for going through the work compiling the 5 sound lists for LW. The lists were a great help to me. I only have one thing to add to his instructions. I am using version 1.92b of the MED. When you open the .mis file in notepad, all you need to do is add the correct sound group to the cnv_file line. You can then select the appropriate sound file in you events section in the MED. There is no need to further edit in notepad.

Thanks again Freezer for your work!!!!
