Post New HDD

anyone got any advice on new HDD's?

ATA 100 or 133 would be great
about 120 GB
quiet if possible

got my eye on this:

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 120GB 8MB Cache (OEM) (HD-013-MD)
Maxtor's latest DiamondMax Plus 9 series offers the ultimate performance for performance PCs and Digital Video systems. Featuring 7200 rpm operation, fast ATA133 interface and 8MB cache for lightning fast performance this drive uses FDB Fluid Bearings used 100% throughout.

i have 2 maxors already (20 and 60 GB) and they work great so far. but i'm not sure if they are a little noisy or not. the one above had fluid bearings so looks like it should be quiet.

any one got one of these?

any other recommendations?

thansk in advance

I got 2 Maxtor 40gb's now, and I should have stayed with western digital. Maxtors seem to get loud over time (mine has liquid bearings also). They are nice though, and probably a bit cheaper but I think the WD's are better.

Here is my recommendation:

120gb and 8mb cache.

Maxtor has the ATA-133, but unless you use raid then theres no point to look info that. Serial ATA will be out soon anyways .

i use maxtor myself had no probs with noise
asked around and told the ibm 180 gxp is very good, quiet and reliable.western digital is lighting fast but not so reliable.
also check what warranty each offers as alot have dropped from 3 years to 1 maybe something in that?
