Cry JOE on Windows Vista

I have Windows Vista and when running JOE my screen flicker and my mouse has bunch of tails all the time, it's not posible to play the game at all. I've purchased new VGA (GeForce 7600GT) and have even change the MB, but the problem persists.

Any idea what might be wrong? Thanks in advance

I have DirectX 10 ... I've seen many posts where people discuss about running JOE under Vista, but none of the posts discuss the aforementioned problems, so I'm not sure if I'm the only one having these flickcers or not ...

According to Chief, XP apps won't run on Vista. How old is your monitor? Tell us your specs and as much as possible.

Also, have you tried playing JOE on DX9? DX10 was designed to make the most out of the ''today's games'', not 2004ish games. (Or how old JOE is.)

And play JOTR itself without JOE just to see if it's the game or your PC. I'd also play other games to see if this happens too.

Good luck.

Chris

Haven't tried with DX9 as I don't know if DX10 can be removed from Vista and how. The same thing happens on JOTR, JOE and JOE IC. Here are the specs:

CPU Type DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2448 MHz (9 x 272)
Motherboard Name Abit AW9D (1 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
Motherboard Chipset Intel Glenwood-DG i975X
System Memory 4096 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (09/15/06)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Monitor Dell 1907FPV (Digital) [NoDB]
Audio Adapter Realtek ALC882/D/M @ Intel 82801GB ICH7 - High Definition Audio Controller

@Mstenger404

It's the same issue under Windows 95/98 compatibility mode.

@BB

Drivers are up 2 date as I'm using latest available driver for Vista from nVidia, even though on nVidia's website it says it's still beta ...

That wouldnt matter Chris trust me, Direct X 10 was designed to work for games period for Vista Users.It should work for all games!

Valter you could try changing its compatibility mode to Windows XP or Windows XP SP2, Try Both.Also try running it in 32 bit mode, if you are already then ignore changing to 32 bit.If your running the game in 64 bit it wont work i heard.

As for changing to DX 9 i heard that it wont work as wellm because of by default Vista uses Direct X 10, it will still use Direct X 10 first when running the game and Direct x9 second, when you change.So changing wont help or work, since Vista was designed for DX 10!

In fact i just found this Valter!Go to this link and it will tell you about the same as i did above, about running older programs on Vista, that seem not to work.

Well the best thing to do would contact Vista Tech Support and ask them is all i can tell you!There the best ones to help you if all fails.I mean only other option i can think of is quit using Vista. The Direct X 10 is what i suppose lures most to use it!

Ask them why you cant get a game to work even with the solution i gave you because thats how they said to get older programs to work with it.You might also make sure theres not a firewall blocking the game.Vista may have one like Windows does that you have to make exceptions for or one of your firewalls may be blocking it.

Anyways i will continue to research this some more and try to see what else i can find!

Edit> Which version of Vista are you using anyways?I read that theres a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version.It doesent matter about changing your computer to 32 bit.But if your Vista itself is Vista 32 Bit version it should work on all older applications to be said.

But like i said if i was you i would call Vista Support Line or email them asking them for help?

Also see if this link helps solve your problem

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/experiences/gaming/access.mspx

You may have to manage your games through the way it shows on the page at the link above.
