Good router and port forwarding

well .. i've thought it would be cool to host my own dedicated css server .. i've set it up for 100 tic and all that and ping accelerated .... but only a select few can join it because of a port forwarding issue ..

so i go to portforward.com and look up my router .. D-Link 604 .. and you can't do it ..

I have another router .. a U.S. Robitics 8000 .. i usta use it but it's kinda old ..

does anyone know of a good router thats good for forwarding ports?

damn thats weird that it cant do it :/ is it really old? there is no option in the router setup to do it?

i'd go with any Netgear or maybe Linksys routers, although d-link aint half bad to, well we use Netgear stuff a lot at work and it's pretty good.

linksys stuff is good because there is good support for hacked firmware. Netgear to a alesser extent, but depends on the chosen unit.

would be worth checking the portforward site one you have chosen one, just to check if it can do it.

buy a belkin one and i'll ban your NHQ account hehhe j/k

i just bought a Netgear DG834N 300Mbps Rangemax NEXT Wireless ADSL2+ Modem/Router. good but expensive. well at least it costs twice as much in the UK as it does in US gggrrr

hmm .. i looked into it more ..

heres the page on how to do it.. on mine it says DI-604, but this is for the DI-604v2 it says .. i dont know what the diffrence is ...

heres the page for my router to set up port forwarding for CSS .. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...ter_Strike.htm

and then here it is for the v2 one ..
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...ter_Strike.htm

anyways .. heres a screen shot of how i got some ports set up .. i had it set up like this before ..

http://3xtreem.com/Untitled-1.jpg

hmm .. i dont know whats up :\

** edit

i just changed it around .. re-done the three ports it wants .. but for the option for TCT or UDP, there was a both option .. so i picked that

also, what exactly is DMZ and how would i set that up as a last resort?

putting your IP in the dmz basically gives direct access to your comp / disables the firewall. no ports are blocked so you are vunerable (or paranoid ), but you could then just use a asoftware firewall i guess

You can get some good routers in a DIY store, alot of them also have alot of free tools, ie for metal, wood etc, hope you find one you want

May i recommend Bosch from personal experience
