Miner tune-up:
1.) Charge the battier up some over night on low amp is better. And clean them 2-lead postup.
2.) Clean inside the spark plug points & dis/cap. Sand them down a small amount till you see clean metal. Using sandpaper, fingernail sand broading. After clean you may have to reset the points only on the spark plugs.
3.) Check the air filter.
4.) Check see if you have gas lol

clues: car/truck

try to start it only nothen is happing it trys to a bit not

much.charge he battier up.

sound like metal on metal need a new starter.

check the battier if need cleaning do it after its clean use some oil on the post and connections to help it stay in good working order.

test the spark plug wires out use a elec-test of some type that has a meter on it. test both ends of the spark plugs cable if the meter moves it good, if not replace the cable.

I can't figure out how to get the plugs off. I can't see where they connect. They just go into the engine in some point. Not sure how to take them out. And.....I just charged the battery still won't work...

'88 Cutlass Supreme 2.8l MultiFI. My dad said that the O-ring on the distributer was worn and leaking. We were thinking we might have oil in there and that is why it isn't starting.

ok you need to get spark plug pipe it raise the plugs up higher up so oil don't get on them, also keep them cleaner when having o-ring leaking oil dose keep clean. i had a old car same thing happen to it. basic its a pipe that the plugs thread into and the pipe thread into the engine. so only gas fumes gose into the pipe and the spark plug fire good onto the fumes. ask any car part story for it. can't think of the right name for it. what it dose raise the plugs about 1/2 higher up and only the fumes get to them oil don't get onto them at all.

twist the sparkplug cables turn them side to side and pull on them lightly. you can call some one to come out to look it over to some one who is good with engine in this case it maybe better ask around.

if you see metal pipes (4-8) ontop of the engine and a lot of them come together in center top of engine its disiel engine you have. and were the spark plugs should be you see pipes running into the engine also.

autoparts story do have a o-ring kit to buy for that too ask.

Well bud it's obvious you have 2.8 gas V-6 , and if you don't have a distributor then that is definitely the reason it will not start so you can start by getting one , and truely the best suggestion I can make is to check these guys out http://www.2carpros.com/ It's a free sign up and they have answered pretty much every question I have had. They will get you on the right track at the very least. Hope this helps
