Quote:
www.sygate.com you get all the information when the Firewall tell if you been hit by a port scan and you lookup in the security log you get the option to trace back on them who did the port scan on you and tell you who is their ISP Service is. "SBC.COM". in this case they the Customer have ADSL. their Host: Pac Bell internet service (SBC.Com) most case they have a e-mail address to report Abuse to them. in this case i had to look them up and e-mail them about it in subject line: abuse report. they some times not always tell you thanks for the report they will take care of it asap.

it was not in the game zone playing at all, tell you the truth, i was working on some sounds tracks for my church, when it happen. this morning around my time zone it was around 04:00 to 05:00. when the alarm gone off.
not always you get scan from playing the game at all. some times a fool trys to use a tool to scan for open port to see what they can get off other and fool around with them.

yes but, they are the most commonly open ports, it makes perfect sence to hack a person while there in game, they send and transfer data, so you got a ping on them, you go there open port, and all you do is connect, they work there stuff, all the while your playing your game and not noticing, cuz most people turn all there antivi off to play games for a lower ping, just watch out peeps

ߣÚÑT
please lay off the subject please, we don't need to see anything like that or know of it. for most part the theme of this thread is on how to handle a person trying to hack into some one system. not on how they can do it. atholon and ߣÚÑT if you like to talk more about it PM each other please. you 2 are stretching it a bet to fore.

well i hate to disappoint you but these days ISP's will generally do nothing for someone scanning your ports. it sux but it is the truth. they've got a form email that they send out to someone about the problem and that they will look into it (that's if you get a reply at all). However if you do keep noticing that this person is scanning your repeatedly they will do something but for a one time offense.....nahhhh it's doubtful anything will come of it.
Now the smaller ISP's generally they are better at handling this stuff. these are generally the one's that i will report but i always always always make sure to send them so much detailed information that they know that i know what i am doing. my last line is usually, "please take care of this situation promptly before i am forced to do so myself." this last line always gets their attention and i usually have a reply within hours of the email and a few have even called to get more details. the fact is.....port scanning is not illegal. it's what you do with said port scan that maybe illegal. it is usually against a TOS contract with the ISP but generally they will not enforce it unless they get multiple complaints about the persons activities. don't get me wrong i am not saying you didn't do the right thing i am just informing you of what i know to be true. as for how i know and why i know.....you'll just have to take my word.

yea i know what you mean i done this in the past, i even report to some host (servers) of some site (hacker site) and they did close them down. to my record i only close 3 hackers sites down by reporting to their host service. but firewall on scan ports is a bet hard to stop but still i'll try to help out to make the INTERNET world safer for me and others.
