In Lake Monticello Virginia, im shooting 3.7 miles non line of sight. 6dbm omni directional antenna ontop of a 200ft mono pole. the client was getting about 700 down 400 up with a 81db rssi. thats the best ive been able to get. Another engineer who takes care of another wireless network in Charlotte County VA is pulling a 8 mile NLOS shot using the waverider access points and a 11dbm omni. Have fun laying 8 miles of cable or fiber This is why i like wireless!

come on i only need to connect to computers that are a maximum of 6 or 7 meters with a budget of £200, we just dont want to cut holes in the doors to get wires through i'm just saying i prefer my Gbit LAN to 56Mbps wirelss conenction

a wired gbit lan across a home network would be nuts 10/1000 cards in every pc however, proxim makes some good 45mbyte point to point radios. But your right, wireless has nothing on wired speeds, and reliability.

try keying up a c b raido with a 600 watt kicker and see what happens. i'll have every program on the pc start up. it will wreak havoc at a gas station with the pumps. it will open automatic doors and light up 4 foot florisent light tubes. it broadcast over tvs, phones, and am fm raidos of anyone with in 3 blocks of my house. but i only fire it up late at night cause i'm a real nice guy. lol

um what does a speaker have to do with a WAN? and how can you broadcast in Khz (am/fm) range with 2.4mhz antenna?

but as for interference, we took a 900mhz connectorized motorola canopy AP with a UHF 600-1000mhz omni with 12dB gain and shut down a 2 way paging company for 2 weeks. to make a long story short, we were getting horrible results and couldnt figure it out. Turns out the company we ordered out antenna from mixed up antenna and box. Talk about a mess... Definatly had a good chuckle when i found out that we were broadcasting and jamming a whole spectrum with junk.

I have heard of a weapon that runs on RF waves. It can kill everything from computers to automobils. Sort of a mega jammer. It's good when junk works!
