Well I have had my computer for about a year and im looking to upgrade my P.O.C. motherboard. Along with that the ram too. Maybe even the processor (intel) if i can find an afordable price.

Could you knowlegeable people out there give me some adivise on what to by and what not. I've been searching around and just wanted some advise before i bought somthing.

AMD is cheaper.

Right now, the best bang for the buck is 64 bit systems, which would take you into the next generation. Obviously you wouldn't be buying the latest greatest, as that costs a ton, but you can make a great leap frogging system.

Ohh, they smoke intels.

An AMD Atholon XP 2800+ which runs at 2.0 Ghtz will burn a Pentium 4 2.8Ghtz

You need to know the processor first...then motherboard, then ram.

Processor determines motherboard and motherboard determines ram.

Believe it or not E-machines actually makes a good tower (their only good one) for gaming and it has the AMD Athalon XP 2800+ and its upgrade able. Best Buy is actually using it to run all its demo's on.

Swift, I would wait to buy anything until you have the money to buy it all at once. Any one of those components doesn't do you any good...but definately pick out your processor and mobo first.

INTEL Rules man. AMD is for N00Bs. All the companies I've worked with have Intels.

Mobo. Dr B is your guy

Note: I personally have 4 Intels at home. Never had any issues.

My highest one is P4 3.5 Ghz on my laptop.

DD Pentiums run good but don't perform as well as an AMD that is why they are in a lot of offices because they don't need performance machines.
