Failing PSU

So i had a Sweex 650W PSU.. After a meager 6 months of working it suddenly failed on me.. SO i went to the store and got a replacement.. ( im friends there so no costs for me , mostly due to me buying them empty when i come for a new PC )

So now 4 / 5 months along the road, i boot up a game, play a bit and pause the thing and taking a quick shower.. I come back, no PC running.. Hmmm what happened? Maybe Windows? Could be.. I try to boot the dam thing up.. No reaction.. I pull out the trusty old V Meter.. And whatta ya know, no power at all.. So i unscrew the thing, everything looks allright and no fuse to see in sight.. So there goes my homejob of fixing it..

Tomorrow off to the store again for yet a new PSU, the third in 6 months.. So warning for all dont buy sweex crap, it breaks on you while your afk.. ( literally in my case.. )

She: Hi Leon, what are you after this time ( mind it i know her for about 5 years now )
Me: Remember the sweex?
She: Dont tell me its broken up again?
Me: sigh.. Yes....

I'll be updating this tomorrow when my gaming rig is back online.. Have t o sit on a beerkeg right now behind this PC.. Usually i use Remote Desktop for it...

So now im gonna make the wife happy and spend a night infront of the tv....... Cuz im getting bad back aches sitting here....

what is it rated as PSU? 600watts?

best i seen 450watts and up for game play. 350w is broader line

there is a ultra PSU 800w (Desktop tower) for 80.00 or 120.00 around about

i been using ultra PSU 450w for 2yrs now no trouble with it at all.

once or 3x a year i get a crash do to some COM error, you know that blue screen of death bet.

anyways not once it gone dead for the PSU.

i would go out get a other type of PSU! other then the one they given you.

go get a "Ultra PSU 550w" or up more watts, if you can order it from newegg.com or tigerdirect.com.....they last a super long time. that computer if it prepackage deal one's its stock PSU not much in watts to handle game play

it hit me do you have auto shotdown enable when the system is inactive? for a give time?

if you don't know leave you computer running not having doing anything with it for a hour, if it close down on its own you know it is enable.

should be found under screensaver mod you may find it there listed as;

hibernate disable as will

it hit me you said you left the game running and gone to take a shower when you came back the system was power off. that could mean it close down not being use.

i turn the power saver off when playing games and screensaver off as will i found screen saver will butt into game play some times.

if you have a power supply back up unit test it by unplug it from the wall if the system go dead with in 2sec then your backup power supply maybe bad as will.

your PSU 650w maybe good, if the power saver is enable could be the bug in the soup

Chief you should know me better.... Ive been doing PC's for over 10 years now...
I know how the drill is..

The PSU was 650 Watt ( as said in my first sentence )
Tomorrow i get a new one..

I guess that i have "dirty" currents flowing here, thus im gonna put a UPS infront of it. To make the currents flowing to my system stable..

And im not in the US so a newegg wont help me much..

No need to buy it, im getting a replacement PSU, and the old one is off for some testing at the site.. To see who is gonna pay for the new one.

that ups is a good idea. just to make sure you know there are 2 kinds that are going to make a difference. Some will run the pc off the battery at all times and use the power to recharge the bettery. The other will draw from the power jack and only run off the battery when the power goes out. If your having problems with your power lines you would want that first one i mentioned but it will cost more
