Windows Xp Pro need tips

i am upgrading this weekend to Windows Xp Pro or it could be Windows Xp Preffessional. its up to the tech, who coming over to work on my system.

if you have any tips on what need to be diasble to save me a headack, let me know please, i have Norton Firewall & Anitirvus programs for it.

i got the updates for it as for extra hardware already and HP-tech's are trying to get me the link for their Printer and Scanner drivers/software i have.

by the way i have try Windows Xp home edition don't care for it. so i am going next lever up.

i doubt u will see much difference between home and pro.
if u dont like home then dont bother with pro IMHO.

ur modem is gonna break when it finds out how many downloads u need to update this POS OS.

MS knows it time to release a new version whenever the download size for all the patches exceeds 200mb (think we are still around 150 for xp/ie).

Still have a machine with win98 on it. A whopping 250mb of updates and downloads to get it up to snuff the last time I looked at it.


I still think 2000 is the best one but XP is pretty good.

Turn off the WinXP firewall, get Tweak XP, Tweak UI for XP.

PS, ( dunno if iys allowed tho :s ) Even a cracked XP can be updated through the site. All you gotta have is 1 single file. I will not go tell what it is cuz of my stance to illegal software
But MS aint protected it as good as they say. ( which we could all see from the recent MS Blasterworm And i did not got him hehehehe. )

oh my god that SP1 update is big and them others are big to, found that other thread about panther's tip and some others in it, i use them all thanks all and StevieB i use your too only i be enable it back reason me and my aunt be neetworking together on cable wireless system together.
