Basically, if you like to loot and explore you will like this game. if you’re looking for fps combat you won't be very satisfied. It's a pretty slow paced game even though there is combat.

Yup. Fallout is an RPG start middle and finish.
If you are looking for a pure running around shooting people game then it ain't fallout.

Having said that, there has been more than one occasion when I have opened a door, gone around a blind mountain path bend or just turned around to see what that noise is behind me and dropped my controller with shock.
Some of them baddies can't half bear down on you fast.

I reckon, even though it's primarily an RPG, it is a better shooter than Far Cry. It's certainly a better RPG than Fable and I would much rather go exploring The Wastelands than play Gears or War.

I would say that pretty much makes Fallout 3 my game of the season.

But like the dude that owns my local game shop says, the range of games coming out nowadays reflects the range of peoples tastes.
Sometimes he sells loads of games he wouldn't have thought would ever shift, sometimes he over orders on games that end up dying like turkeys.

It's what does it for you.
I would say that like most RPG you have to give it longer than BB has, to judge if it's any good or not.
But if the game doesn't seem to be for you then the only answer is rent, or wait til next year when its second hand value makes it worth the risk.

I bought it for the PC and spend a couple of hours playing it. Got out of the vault, and did some 'quests' in Megawhateveritscalled. Headed over to the market place, and got bored so i strolled off. And ended up dying because i went a bit too far and everything was too 1337 for me to attack.

So i stopped playing it lol.

Also, i found a 'glitch' if you can call it that, where i started a fight in one of the bars, ran outside, and it autosaved as i went out. So everytime, i would spawn outside this bar with about 20 enemies standing right infront of me. And i had to start again, so i got pissed and stopped playing it lol.

.Simon. I think me you and Scott got into the same fight.

Best way out of that horror is to go to options, drop the skill level to easy until you've got out of the situation and then bring it back up to your favoured level.

I was super evil first and purer than the driven snow second.
Not sure I will be bothered to play the game as neutral ever.

I also had the auto save turn against me... I killed the bar guy that wouldn't give me the info and the whole town turned against me. In a hurry to get away I stumbled into the armory looking for a place to take cover. As soon as I entered the armory it auto saved. Well, right in the entryway of the armory is a super robot that shoots a plasma laser = instant kill at lvl 1. He would instantly kill me every time I spawned. After trying to escape for about 10 minutes I finally managed to get out of the armory and headed down the ramp. He then walked through the door and shot me in the back on my way down the ramp. The next time I was smarter and ran around the building only to run into about 10 pissed off civilians running right for me guns blazing. I was being shot at from every angle possible. I didn't know about the difficulty stuff so they killed me pretty quickly. I eventually got away but ended up restarting from the beginning because I was afraid I wouldn't be allow back into Megaton or some people that I killed were linked to quests that would keep me from doing them or getting achievements.

So, save often on top of auto save. Any if you hate dyeing turn the difficulty down. There’s no shame in playing it on Very Easy if it makes a better experience.

Yeah. I have to say stopping at twenty is bollox.
I can see it might convince people to replay it just to have a go with other perks, but all it did was annoy me.

Muscle Milk isn't a very sound investment. I'd rather have Casein or some cottage cheese.

I'm finally beginning to like this game a lot. God damn fire ants just wasted my ass though.
