Post ArmA: Combat Operations

NEW YORK, Feb. 27: Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR), one of the world's most recognized brands and third-party video game publisher, today announced that it will publish ArmA: Combat Operations, Bohemia Interactive's newest military title for the Windows platform in May 2007. The game is also being published in Europe under the name ArmA: Armed Assault.

ArmA: Combat Operations will offer the ultimate realistic combat simulation experience in a modern day setting. With unprecedented freedom of movement, actions and tactics, the game will allow players to immerse themselves in battle as never seen before.

"Fans of Operation Flashpoint have been eagerly awaiting the next game from the talented team at Bohemia Interactive," said Jeremiah Cohn, Product Manager, Atari, Inc. "We are thrilled to deliver an incredibly realistic military combat title for the PC."

In ArmA: Combat Operations, players will be able to engage in the story- driven single-player campaign or take part in huge multiplayer battles with more than 50 players on one battlefield at once. Featuring a vast environment with more than 150 square miles to explore, ArmA: Combat Operations will allow players to pilot or drive more than 30 vehicles, including APCs, tanks, self- propelled anti-aircraft guns, helicopters and fighter planes. The game features an extremely powerful built-in editor, which allows players to create and share complex missions as well as import user-created units and maps.

this must be one of the most slowly spreding games around. wasn't it realeased in germany a month or so ago, a couple of weeks ago it hit the UK, and now it will only get to the US in May!

do you think they will have ironed out the bug by then for a clean US launch?

If I'm right, the publisher for the German version, etc. was ''Idea Games'', Europe version is ''505 Games'', and the North American version is Atari lol.

The Armed Assaults that were released (not the North American ones) all got around about 7 to 8 out of 10 according to reviews. I'm pretty sure that this Atari release will plow past 8.

why would a different publisher mean different reviews? the game is exactly the same.

I'm pretty sure the reviews will be different Steve. The Czech dudes (Bohemia Interactive) said somewhere that it will ''be better'' than the earlier released versions, and therefore, that will affect the reviews. I'm pretty sure about this.

Trust me, when the US release comes out, there will be new things... I remember reading it somewhere. We just gotta wait and see I guess lol.

Anyone played the demo of this game BTW?

Also Steve, ''what bug'' are you talking about? There's heaps in ArmA, and they've just released a 1.05 patch as well. GJ BIS.

Demo? If the spot is good enough, shooting at target is in single non-semi automatic style, and camo good enough ... usually there is no need to move on

I gotta agree with Mstenger lol. I haven't played ArmA, but I've played OFP.

The guy in the SS is of a North Sahrani sniper trying to attack the US...

If you wanna know more, read the interviews, they tell a lot about the game:
