technology tour
a while back there was a thread about 18 core processor and such
these are very pricey CPU's, but here are the specs from MFG website...these are not server cpu's. i thought i would share this cause some people like to keep informed about current and upcoming tech. even if it is too pricey..... . 18 core processors will become mainstream and make us look at 8 core processors like we look at the first Pentium processor today.. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...i9-7980xe.html https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/...SAAEgKA4vD_BwE you can get price's from computer power user https://www.computerpoweruser.com/Di...e/download.pdf https://www.computerpoweruser.com/home https://www.computerpoweruser.com/di...archive/page/1 shop where you want this is just a way to get info pick/click on a mobo and scroll down and click on specifications if you click on warrenty info sometimes there is a direct link to the MFG product page...i use this site to get info amd mobo's socket Tr4 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=-1&isNodeId=1 intell mobo's socket LGA2066 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=-1&isNodeId=1 also https://www.wdc.com/products/interna...ard-drive.html

there was a tech i didn't like when it came out and it didn't survive the market called Rambus...it as i look back was incredibly fast for its time
and could be faster than todays tech...i didnt like it cause the mem format was serial and not parallel like todays DDR3 and DDR4 ram maybee mobo's would be smaller or pack more memory and perhaps the tech might have expnded to orther parts of the mobo components making it even faster....yet even now as long as 64 bit mobo's cpu's have been around why are we still stuck with 64 bit and not advanced to 128 bit tech... sorry just reminiscing ...

just imagine on a mobo if components were connected with fiber optic
instead of copper traces..

by the time you save the money this may all be obsolete
tech advancment has gone from 5 years to less than 3 years for introduction of new tech...
