save streaming video?
how do i save streaming video using windows media player?
i tried getting the url, playing it in wmp, and then saving it, but it wont let me save it. anyone got any ideas?

What i usually do ( if video opens inside browser ) is look at the source,and then find the direct link to the video. Copy that link, paste it in the browser and say you want to save it.
Firefox is great for this you select the area were the video is played, then view source of selection with rightmouse button.

you should be able to just right click it and Save Link As orsomething

IE & FF have diff right click options, which are you using, uh, have you tried opening in a different media player ?

afaik .wmv is temp saved once downloaded, so it will be in your temp files.
i have forgotten exactly, but right click on the control bar > properties, then look for the url that ends with .wmv copy and paste it into your browser url bar. it should then either load up win media player (in this case you can just go to File > Save), or if using FF it will say Play or Save or Cancel. |

if all else fails find the direct path in the source, knock up a quick HTML page on your computer with a link to it, right click it as "save target as"
