Chef knives
Been looking on chef knives the last 3-4 hours (somewhat scary thought) and been dreeming away at knives by Ichiro Hattori (around $1000 a pop and several years waiting list)
Then I found a great knife (so I've heared/read) made by SEKI KANETSUGU and it's only $70! Doesn't have the damaskus look and make but it's still a nice looking knife Will try to order it from Seki, Japan next moth Anyone else interested in cooking and knifes related to cooking? $70 bucks is a bargin, if you campare to Global knies that cost almost the dubble and are not even near as sharp as these |

having a good knife is well worth it ..
i have a real kick ass fellet (sp) knife for cutting up fish.. it really is needed. and after years of searching for a decent way to sharpen my own knives, i've come across it. i bought this kit online that comes with two wheels. they're both dense cardboard wheels, but one has a grit on it that sharpens my knifes really well, and the other doesn't, and is used for polishing the blade. three passes on each side of the blade and it'll make it sharp as all hell.. only thing was i needed to go out and get a cheap motor to spin the two wheels

I have always been interested in cooking somewhat. I go through spurts of when I want to cook. Its like for about 2 weeks all I do is want to cook then for 4 or 5 months I dread heating up oatmeal in the microwave lol. I really considered going to school for culinary arts but after working at a restaurant and seeing the kind of stuff the cooks go through and how much work there is to it, I don't think I would really enjoy it. Sure, the creating of new dishes and new ideas is always fun but when the crowd comes in demanding food and you have 40 plates that need to be out asap, they do not look like they are having fun.
I say all of that because you asked is anyone interested in cooking or knifes at all lol. I thought I should share. But the whole knife part, I never got that in depth with cooking to start choosing that kind of stuff. Plus I still live with my dad so I just use w/e utensils we have in the house.

Awsome! Whats your price including shipping to Sweden? Are these good? Have you tried any of them? The last one is quite a bit softer steel then the first, not sure about that last one. Noticed that several manufacurers in Japan use Swedish Steel

Victorinox Kitchen Knives Review
Victorinox knives were founded by Karl Elsener who began his career as an apprentice making knives and surgical instruments in Germany. - In 1884 returned to his home town of Ibach, Switzerland; opened a workshop. - in 1891 the famous Swiss Army Knife was created. Today Victorinox is one of the leading knife manufacturers in the World. Victorinox knives are used by chefs and butchers worldwide. Their main features are: - The finest high carbon stainless steel - Full tang (metal goes all the way through the handle) - Taper ground from bolster to tip and back of blade to edge - Beautiful African rosewood or non-slip Fibrox nylon handle - Rosewood handle attached with three rivets - Unique serrated blades will outperform many expensive brands Victorinox cutlery have been used by generations of professional chefs and many claim that they are "Best knives they ever had" and yet they are very good value for the price. Pros: - Fantastic value for the price. Best buy, especially for a cost conscious cook or a catering student. - Excellent lasting sharp blade - The very extensive range with many specialty pieces - Hygienic, safe and robust design, excellent hand protection Cons: - The chefs knife is too light for professional cooking, but ideal for home use - The filleting knife lacks flexibility, but still does the job - Sharpening is more difficult than that of more expensive lines. But the blade will keep the edge for a long time. Tip: Not as dishwasher-proof as advertised. |
