IE6 on the system after uninstall?

LOL, so my brother uninstalls IE6 and WMP10, saying he wants to stay away from MS stuff and saying they're hoggish programs. Instead, the substitute for IE6 is Firefox, and the substitute for WMP10 is iTunes, along with QuickTime.

Now, just to say, I hate iTunes. It takes longer to load than WMP10 (for me), and it can't view video files. QuickTime can view video files, but I hate QuickTime! Seriously... lol.

Now, since my brother uninstalled IE6, I thought it would be off the system (I don't want it to be though). So I went to click that mail button in Messenger to go straight to my Inbox... and whoa, IE6 popped up! I thought it was uninstalled...

And now, I've just looked, and it's in the Program Files folder. I'm sure it was removed through Add/Remove Components.

Is it normal for it to stay on the system? Is it one of those programs that just ''have to be on the hard drive'' lol?

Any replies, thanks in advance.

Chris

i didnt think you could uninstall it to be honest. messenger uses IE and i dont think it can use any other app. you need IE to download updates etc, and other MS Apps from the microsoft website.

Chris i think your brother instill the updates for it only.

one has to go into:
Add/Remove
WWindows
Components

to instill IE6
listed as: Internet Explorer

a lot of software and url site like banks other things use IE6
if there no Explorer to use at all your mother could not log-on to do her thing.

besides better have IE7 and not IE6 reason it more secure.
older system are stuck with IE6 like 95/98/98se/2000/ME

Windows XP family and Vista Use IE7

you can not remove IE6 totally better buy a Mac Computer then remove IE6 system don't think can run without it.

try NetScape Browser it use both IE6 or IE7 and top of that Firefox. totally free
www.netscape.com its free.
come with anti ad-ware, system scan and other nice tools.
no ad-ware to it at all.

personnely i think your brother is a fool totally.
